This game and the anime

Should I watch the anime before playing this, will it ruin the show if I play this before watching it, and if I don't watch, will I still understand the game?

Playing the game wont ruin the show, but you wont really care about the characters in the game if you haven't seen the show.

you can play , and the game has some flashback videos to tell you the basic things. the game is an "extra" story that happens between episodes 7 and 8. so it won't spoil you much and you can enjoy it. but i think that playing after that you know all the "world" you are in it feels much better, cause i noticed that some little facts and things are not explained much.

You should definitely watch the anime first, if only because it is fantastic and you won't get as much enjoyment out of the characters or animation in the game as you would otherwise, simply because they're not written or animated as well as in the anime.

And also because it's one of the best anime out there, so you should definitely see it.

But if you don't, the game won't spoil anything (even though it should). Each time you meet a new character you have the option to view a very brief flashback that basically only tells you the bare minimum about them, and the game proper studiously avoids mentioning any plot details from the anime. Which is a shame, because there are some plot elements that I'd have loved to see 'em follow up on.
