When do I get to save the game...?
I expected a menu option but I'm not seeing one - are there save points? When is the first one? I went through Akko's first time to their bedroom and VERY much thought sleeping would do it, but that doesn't seem to have been the case.

you were kind of close to the first save point, once you "unlock" the crystal ball in that library room, you will be able to save in that spot, to save on different places youll need more potions (one per crystal ball)

Ulgh. Figures. I played 40 minutes before I had to leave, and evidently that wasn't long enough to reach the first save point. SMFH. Who designs a game like this in 2018? This kind of BS has been inexcusable for more than 20 years.

The kind of idiot with a life with more in it that just video games?

What kind of sad and pathetic life must you live to not realize that?

if you can't play a new game for atleast 40 minutes why even bother starting?

Ok guys no need to be hostile and calling someone an idiot. That's not civil. Please don't start unnecessary drama. Anyways, yeah I agree it's kinda inconvenient the game doesn't let you save a bit earlier. I think would've been better if the game informed you at the start about the crystal ball. At the same time it's not that big a deal since you only gotta waiting about 30 more minutes to get to that point. A little warning at the start by the game would've been nice though. Would've made me feel less tense before getting to that point. Being able to save from the start is a standard staple most games have adopted, so people can be easily misled that this game just simply has an auto-save function when in actuality there is a mechanic for doing so unlocked behind 30 minutes of playtime.

you don't need the game to tell you, unless you're an idiot you should be able to work out that a save feature needs to be unlocked if the game doesn't mention an auto save

Remember: When people start out with provocative insults, there is a "report post for inappropriate content" button for this.

Anyway, definitely agree that the savepoint system is an anachronistic nuisance. I too had to leave 30 minutes in, wrongly assuming that there was some sort of AutoSave. Once you know, the issue becomes smaller, because dialogues are mostly for flair anyway, and even the required ones can be fast-forwarded over, so I haven't yet been forced to redo stuff in a manner, that would take a relevant amount of time.

What I really don't get however, is who could have thought that hiding the save-points behind unlocks would be a good idea. Essentially they're telling people who have to leave for real-life reasons, that they can't, even though there's a save-point right next to them.

the game basicly forces you to unlock to the first save point though

Weirdly, while initially an inconvenience, it becomes pretty irrelevant later on, as one gets the ropes with the flow of the game (and drowns in those spellstones).

A recurring theme in the game; It is fun in the end, but it is pretty good at hiding it at first behind offputting technicalities.

Wow this is so stupid. Seriouslly, how can you guys tell people how much they should play vg?
Truth is they really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up this game. The longass wait for the first savepoint is just one of many mistakes from the designers. I went up to 2 hours in my first playthrough to get to the first save point.

I played up until the point of the save being unlocked (exited without saving.) TBH I kind of figured the game was auto saving when loading, like most Visual Novel games, and felt like this idea was confirmed by the fact that the game didn't prompt me of data loss when exiting. I didn't see any notices that corrected my thinking/ there were no "You can only save here," statements. Kind of figured it would be like "are you sure you want to exit? Unsaved data will be lost." Eitehr way, just gonna pop skip mode on and force my way to the first save... this is still a pretty dumb system.

Edit: It took less than 20 minutes to get back to where I was +save the game. They could have introduced this save thing much earlier; the crystal ball is right at the start of the game, but you have no idea how to interact with it (kind of obvious it's for saving... would have liked some 4th wall breaking confirmation when trying to use it back then.)

thanks they made save unlocking event unmissable. But seriously it needs a warning: don't start to play the game if you don't have enough time to unlock save, otherwise you will have to run everything again from the start. Suitable to the game's story though -___-
