Urban Strife

Game locks up during scene change
This happens once in a while, less often than it used to.

Essentially, while moving from one place to another in the map, I'll get a "Loading" message appear. To continue I need to ctrl-alt-del and kill the process. I can then restart the game, load a recent save, and continue without incident.
I'm not able to reproduce the hang at this time.
I suspect it might have something to do with a memory leak, although again I/m not able to prove that.
I'll keep an eye on it, in hopes of coming up with a way to reproduce it.
I'm aware a report without reproduction steps isn't helpful, so my apologies.

Usually it's the things that you did BEFORE the travel that cause the bug, the travel just consumes just enough resources for the game to run out of memory for good. See if there's a pattern there.

I'll do that, but right now I can't think of anything. Does the save file include a log of most recent actions which might help?

Save is a snapshot, doesn't include a log. But if the crash can be reproduced we can run it on a debug environment and see exactly at what line of code it crashes. That's why we are so adamant about people sending saves with bugs. Plus game allows so much freedom it's almost impossible to reproduce exactly all the steps one player has taken that resulted in a bug, so starting from a save you can save hours of trials.

I ask because there's a log visible in the interface, so if that were saved to disk you'd at least see the logged events that led up to the locked game.
Once we found where a memory leak was by editing an automated smoke test to run a few hundred times, taking a memory snapshot each time it started. We then pulled out half the scripts until we were able to narrow it down to a single function.

Something to start with, anyway. Is it saved to an accessible file I could send you?
I think it's related to trading. I tend to switch between combat expeditions and trading expeditions, and I think it's more likely after selling lots of stuff for teeth.
