DS for us was an excellent example of what works and what doesn't when it comes to zombies and TBS. We tried to use the good stuff and find solutions to what didn't work there (see the new unique zombie turn as an example).
We are not just 2 guys, Razvan and Alex are the founders and the most experienced of us but there is more of us. Although by today's standard we are a tiny indie studio, we are about a dozen developers, each with lots of years of experience in his field. And what we can't do inhouse, we contract - again - to some very talented and experienced devs from the local market.
PS: Did you see the new PC Gamer article?

Luckily both JA2 and DS are pretty high on my all-time best lists, so this one will no doubt deliver and I'm pretty keen to learn more and see what this MicroProse partnership will ultimately be able to provide.
Also I'm old enough to remember Microprose, seeing the logo somehow moved me :)
We felt the same, the XCOM combat has been used and abused lately as if that was the only option. But the classics of the genre were always three, not one: X-COM, JA2 and Fallout. Nevermind games like Dead State that came later and carved a niche for themselves.
We will not make another JA2, USG is USG and nothing else, but we'll do our best to make the JA2 player feel at home in our game.
Thank you! We do have some ideas you will find interesting in that aspect. And better zombie combat is just one of many.
Although I do remember the armour ratings in that being pretty imbalanced toward the end, so with full riot gear+shield etc. you would barely even take damage from a group nomming on you on the ground.
Each of them has its own history, personality, fight among themselves and etc. Some are good people, others are potential psychopaths. You really feel like these are normal people trying to survive an apocalypse. I wonder if I can expect the same care with NPCs in your game? But anyway, I'm really excited about Urban Strife, good work guys.
Maybe one major difference in USG vs DS is that the RPG will be more focused on pleasing the larger groups/factions rather than individuals with various cravings.
Me too, is good to see new games of the genre.
