Frequently Asked Questions (EA)
We'll try to collect and answer here the most frequently asked questions. We'll start with a basic few we've already noticed and update the list in time.


Is there a keybind to select the entire party or individual companions?
You can select the entire party with 0 and individual mercs with 1,2,3,4,5
The keybinds are not shown in Options but we will add them.

Will the saves made during pre-release still work when EA launches?
A lot of fixes have been pushed to the release build that might not work if you keep loading older saves. We'll keep backwards compatibility but certain things are dictated by the saves themselves.

Is the story scripted? Do we have freedom to pick our own route?
We wrote so far about 40k words in dialogues to allow player as much agency/freedom. You do you, the game and the game world react to what you do. That doesn't mean you'll always be rewarded or applauded, but it will work.

When will the beta-branch be available and who will be able to access it?
Give us a few days to focus on the launch, make sure the stable build is stable enough and then we'll get to setting it up. Everyone who purchased the EA will be able to play the beta (but do mind that is a development build, nothing is guaranteed to work until we push it to stable).

How many people work on Urban Strife?
Three. One programmer, one level artist and one narrative designer. From time to time, for jobs we really can't handle, we hire/outsource help.

Will the game be localized in X, Y, Z language?
Yes, most likely. If X, Y, Z is a language spoken by a decent portion of our fans, we'll do our part and offer the game in their language.

What if the language I speak is a minority, is there no chance for a localization?
We'll do our best to externalize the localization files so the game can have third party translations for everyone.

How much will the game costs?
Price will be far, in normal indie range, with a launch discount. The exact price will be shown as soon as the game goes for sale, as with any other product.

Will the game be ported to PS5, MacOS, etc?
The game is built on Unreal Engine and that's a big advantage, meaning it theory it can be be built for anything UE works on. But until the EA is over and the PC version isn't done, we have no other ports planned.

You mentioned that this is made for KB+M, but will it be possible to have controller support? Will it work on Steam Deck?
It is possible, but requires us to add more actions to be triggered by shortcuts (which can in turn be assigned to controller buttons). Not rocket science, but we need to free up some spare time from other parts of development.

Is the game open-world sandbox?
The game has a story with a beginning and an end so it's not a sandbox. You move from location to location on the road network, with the potential of random encounters/ambushes.

Will the game have a demo?
As soon as we are done with the Early Access (so we have a full featured 1.0) we'll try to extract another proper demo, this time a permanent one.

You promised us perks, attributes, etc, are they in the game?
Yes, while progression is still slow some creators might not play enough to gain new perks, they're all listed in the recruit chart. The EXP gained is still been tweaked, but as a rule, as long as you have the required attribute at 70, you start gaining experience for all the perks you have unlocked, provided you do the action required (if a perk needs you to shoot from the roof, then you need to shoot form the roof most of the time).

Will the game support modding?
Yes, we'll offer a full SDK to the modding community, comprised our own tools, that allow extensive content creation and tweaks. This is planned once the main game is done, towards the late stage of EA.

Is a borderless mode possible for this game?
Yes, it is called "Windowed Fullscreen" in graphical options.

Is there permadeath in this game
Yes, all companions die permanently. Your hero too, but if he/she does that you lose the immunity research and the game is lost.

Can I turn off permadeath?
When one of your companions is downed, the AI will no longer prioritize him/her as a target so chances are you can recover. But turning it off for good is not (yet) an option.

What languages ​​are you planning to add for release?
We do not have the full list, because the contracts have not been signed and confirmed, but our goal is to have the game localized in all the major circulation languages if possible. Plus all those languages where we have a sizeable community (judged by wishlists/visits/sales). We also want to externalize the language files and allow third party translations to be made by modders if they so desire, even sooner than release.
