At the very least the game's files can be decrypted and made easily moddable to allow players to add features/make changes on their own.
What gave you that idea? Asking because we tried to be clear in communicating what the game has to offer in EA - that's also the reason why we had it featured by over 100 content creators before release, so everyone can make an informed purchase.
The last thing we want is people being angry that they bought the wrong game.
Same... I'm sure it is still a great game and I'll probably still catch it on sale at some point -- but in this day and age I kind of expect games of this nature to have some form of sandbox element straight out of the gate -- even if it is just random encounters on a map like the old Fallout games.
Also handcrafted story doesn't mean it's a linear story!
We did our best to give the player agency and let you play the game like you want to. It's just not computer generated, we actually tortured ourselves writing all the possible outcomes and reactions. Wrote about 40k words in dialogues and quests so far just covering all the angles we could.
For us sandbox means zomboid. You get a map, some roaming zombies, some random generated loot, no story, no NPCs. You make your own story then you die. Maybe we're wrong?
