Hi, I suggest you play private games against your friends to get the hang of the game. When there aren't many people online, you're very likely to get matched up against higher stacked teams.

so then quick play is useless for newcomers then?

I wouldn't say useless, just challenging :) depends on what you want

so for newbies like me to enjoy the game the only possible way is private? sounds kinda not thought out.

We're open to suggestions; there is matchmaking based on elo but there's usually 30 - 60 people playing which isn't a huge amount for the matchmaker to pick from

maybe a tutorial that goes more in depth and puts newbies in the right direction like training videos and in game drills that you could use and obviously being able to do matches against ai

Yea that's a good idea. There's some community made content:

Slapshot Basic Controls and How to use them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q7XtDBhvRo

Slapshot Basic Positioning and Rotation guide
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Nn78LyujaE

Slapshot How to get better at Puck Control and Stickhandling
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvVuJfWqPhI

Slapshot drills to improve puck control.

A more in-depth tutorial is a good idea. AI would be even better, maybe that's something we can do for Slapshot 2 we're working on.

Idk man, you just gotta power through the God Tier players. Only way to get better is to watch and learn what they do and see what they ARENT doing that you might be doing. My buddies and I have been getting better just because we KEEP going even on an 11 game loss streak. Just gotta keep chuggin homie, you will get it eventually

Friends? _Friends_??? Where do you think you are right now?
original. Apr 25, 2020 @ 1:54pm
Agree. I dont know if this game has any matchmaking system at all (probably not because it lacks players anyway), but everytime I play quick solo its low level newbies getting tryharded by experienced players, which ruins the fun

What if you can't play private games with your friends bc you can't convince any of them to download this ♥♥♥♥ game?

Definitely not newcomer friendly, I'm sorry but "depends what you want" is just "suck it up buttercup" in corporate speak :P There is no player searching based on level or anything and since when your game is done you are going to be searching at the same time as the people you just played, there is a good chance you get put back in with them. There is definitely no way up, since when in a game with level 60+ you aren't met with any opportunities to try anything. You see the Penguin head... you know you are screwed! XD

Solo Quick Play throws you into games against Quick Party Groups of high level "friends" that are sorry losers so they need to team up to kill noobs. This has made countless number of new players leave and uninstall this game. If you want to play with "friends" then ban Quickplay party groups or divide the two. It creates staked teams and ruins this game!
