campfire consumption while sitting at a fire
I found that even if I am sitting at a fire, if I have a fire in my inventory, when I craft something that requires a campfire, it uses the one in my inventory... Than seems a bit off to me, if I am sitting at a campfire, shouldn't I be using the fire that is lite and not the fire in my inventory?

Hey Dohlbrak.

It depends on what you are crafting as it depends on what campfire it will use.

OK, I thought that by requiring a campfire, it meant that you needed to be at a fire to craft the item, but what you are saying is that some items require a campfire as an ingredient.

BTW, this is game is really good, I am thoroughly enjoying my time with it. I have found so small things, but for an early access that just released, I am impressed. The more I play, the more I learn and the deeper I get into the game.

Hey Dohlbrak.

Never hesitate to post even small things as the more information we get and the more feedback we get the better we can make the game.

Otherwise, I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you much more on the forums as we progress.

I only have about 3 or 4 hours in now, but what I have found is sometimes certain buttons won't work or are unresponsive. I.e. dodge and lock on will sometimes not register at all. I have had around 6 CTD's, four of which were a direct x issue and I believe it was caused by my turning on force alternate frame 2, I wanted to get sli working. The other two times I don't know what happened, it just crashed and when it did, items disappeared.

As a whole, the game has been running very well for me. There seems to be a lot of good systems in place. The unresponsive control on dodge and lock on was frustrating when it happened, just a few times, but other than that so far so good. I will keep posting anything else, if anything happens.

Agree with original post, things like Boiled Grubroot consume a campfire even at the base campfire. That doesn't seem right...

That's how I felt, seemed weird to use a campfire as an ingredient when I was sitting at a campfire. I think it was designed this way though. I very notice you can't craft shelters without a campfire but campfire isn't listed as an ingredient.

The issue with the campfire in your inventory being consumed is even more puzzling when you realise that cooking at the campfire will let you burn through all your ingredients, where as if you consumed the campfire in your inventory it would only last for a couple of craftings.

Right, once it uses the inventory campfires, you then have unlimited usage of the stationary campfire. That was what initially got me. I would make a campfire to take with me, then craft away and then leave, the problem was when deep on the expedition I would realize I didn't have a campfire on me anymore.
if youre at base or a barrel, cooking food or anything that needs a fire will consume the crafted fire item regardless if you are sitting at a fire, it is a bug.

however as a tip for general use, when you go to a barrel to rest. you need a campfire item to ignite it, though the barrel WONT consume to the firekit. So ignite the barrel move back abit drop the fire kit then go use the barrel. afterwards you can pick the item up again and either repeat the process or use it as a placeable out in the world
not much of a tip but heh infinite fire use

Yea, I started putting my campfires on the ground or in the stash, crafting, and then picking them back up.
