The survival challenge ends quick
I was just wondering if people have seen differently but I found my first 30min / hour to be more challenging food and cold wise. But once I got a bow and survivors, finding food became trivial.

Regarding the cold, I got caught in a blizzard at the beginning but once I found the other possible shelters, I just head toward one as soon as the wind rises in case there is a blizzard. From that moment the blizzards were not such challenge anymore.

Have you guys seen otherwise, does it become a challenge again later on?

I'm used to play The Long Dark at Interloper so this is nothing yet.

P.S. I haven't died from the survival aspect yet but died twice in fights because of the lag.

I was taking over an outpost when a blizzard came and I just barely made it to a train carriage for shelter. I got really lucky and found it in the white wind.

WAIT!!! youre not whining about the difficulty or that the life sytem is to hard... You get out of these forums. SHOOO and take your "im not a baby don't hold my hand" mentality with you!!!!

lol jokes aside though,
unforyunately in the current state its doesnt get anymore difficult later on. It becomes trivial and monotonus actually. Ive redesigned my base so many times ive lost count. I replayed new games about 20-30 times with new challenges

currently Im doing a torch only playthrough .... quite fun indeed !!!

I was afraid this might be so...been watching gameplay footage before I decide to buy and wondered about the diffuculty survival aspect of the game.

I bet it will grow in difficulty later on as they refine the game mechanics, balancing, and features. There will also be a ton more to do as they add several more regions over the months ahead. The Long Dark in its first week of early access was similarly lacking in things to do, and look at it now!

That's a decent exemple, I like that, it's true that if I get carried away I might get stuck in it.

Ahahahaha :P yeah I don't mind dying, I have more fun when the game is really against me.
And thanks for the feedback, that's what I thought.

Quite right about The Long Dark, I remember the loot was so plentiful it was horrible ahahaha, well it depends on what you strive for.

Maybe with quest and storyline will be more fun.

If you happen to run in to Blizzard in middle of the map. Craft a shelter with 20 wood and use it. You can sleep in it to wait out for the Blizzard. About 4-6 hours. Just be aware that after blizzard Soul Hunters can spawn and attack your shelter.

i feel like the fighting system only kills me when i get grouped up on by 3-4 and the survival aspect killed me once in my first hour so i feel the fighting is fine but the survival needs to be harder

You should always run with a fire and a shelter, just for safety. You don't need to come back to your town in months, or ever.

Another problem is the mobs AI is not very great right now and are to predictable.
Once mobs will have an update to their behavior in combat and maybe more abilities at least that part will be harder... I hope.

I'm sure devs will come up with new ideas, for instance the big floating sphere (Eclipse) is not that threatening right now but I bet later on it will do more than just drop things on your head.

We just need to be patient.

I think the only threatening thing is the Eclipse actually, you can get an unlucky shot by that thing while fighting for an outpost.
