Anyone else feel the sword is not worth carrying?

This goes espially the case for the scrap metal one, where you need to carry an axe and pick axe with you all the time to cut down inital locations, so i just keep the axe equiped, instead of having a sword to chewing up a majorly valueable inventory slot.

The swords effectiveness over the axe just does not seem to be worth losing an inven slot.

Anyone else feel this way?

Can you give examples of why I might be wrong in my opinion?

Because Sword gives more damage then the axe.

but until you have the iron sword, its not worth it to me, because up to that point in the game, i tend to use the bow 99.9% of the time.
And being in ranged combat tells your follower with you to do so it seems, and they have unlimited arrows.

That and your followers who are speced as Lumber jacks will get more wood then you. Your personal Axe is more meant to get you started early on. Not meant to be kept long term.
