So... 6 lives? Why?
Why not kill you and force a reload? I don't get the idea of finite lives

I just don't get it. Lives are such an archaic concept. just kill the character and offer a reload, or you're dead if ironman
Can you choose a difficulty that doesn't have lives or something? Really not interested in starting over at any point so that's a dealbreaker for me if you HAVE to play with limited lives.

@No Visas: We have two game modes in Fade to Silence. Survival and exploration. Exploration mode has infinite lives and you also gain a constant stream of reources, depending on the number of resource grounds you have found in the game.

So in other words, no combat mode or with limited lives. A shame, that's a dealbreaker for me too. Either allow last reload or no lives at all in ironman mode. Nobody feels like restarting over after a few deaths
Can you say more about how this "constant stream of resources" works? I'd just like to not have to start over if i mess up, not cheat.

I fail to see your reasoning in this OP. The idea with a few lives on hand means you need to LIMIT what risks you take. Since this game is so unforgiving, going full on permadeath from the get go would really limit any progress. As for there not being reloads, this is a survival game with a relentless nature. Being able to reload your game would sort of ruin the deal.

As for exploration mode, it is not a "No Combat Mode". The game will still try to hinder your progress, but you are not at risk of losing what headway you have made.

On a side note, if you do end up facing your final death, you are not fully set back. Depending on how well you did up until that point, you can start anew with some of your progress preserved. Allowing you to fortify your run in the future.

As a final note. It is not 6 lives. You start the game with three, but you can increase this by finding or creating new Flames Of Hope. Or if you have the boon for it, you can start anew from your final death with a few more than 3.

Because the concept of "lives" only made sense during the arcade era. Let me save somewhere and either die permanently or "wake up" from there

Ok by that logic you are saying that literally half or more of all video games are a joke to you. Unreasonable.

Also i believe the story is based around whatever caused Ash to end up in this perpetual ring of torture. Either the Phantom took a particular interest in him for some reason, or Ash started the ritual in an effort to protect his daughter, even beyond death. We are dealing with Eldritch magic here, god only knows what started this.

The thing is in Survival you will run out of resources at some point as they do not respawn or regrow so once you picked them up they are gone. And they put the daily resources into exploration mode so that you do not run out of resources.

And they do work like you will get them delivered to your stash at the start of every day.

I had wished they had some kind of middleground, as I do like the survival limited lives and some kind of rekindle some of the flames to increase your lives and have the resource harvest areas regrow over time for your followers to gather from.

As now you best not hesitate or make a mistake or you will run out of resources before you even reach the end of the story, the lives are the least of the problems.

Aha, interesting. Thank you.

Edit: Kinda sounds like i'll enjoy Exploration the most, i dislike being forced to start over. Gonna buy it, thanks again everyone who replied to me.

If you're just going to understand what you want, please stop replying here. No game other than arcades for the past decade at least has "lives" and especially not survival games. You die and reload or you die and that's it. What, I'd need to restart this game because it took me four lives to get a decent base but now that I only have two left, it's too risky? Screw that.
Why not?

Every games has lives even if they don't say it except permadeath which has one and not many people like as they sell poorly..

Rougelike? These games having only 1 and after death you start from the beginning.
I like these, you have to git gud.
some poeple need to quicksafe every action they take because they like to take a risk but only with the perfect outcome.
