LAN/offline?

It's launching as free to play, so I doubt it, but without LAN and offline mode (even as some kind of purchase option), Hawken will be re-dead just like last time. If we keep building games with server dependencies, there's never any other possible outcome.

If you want offline Hawken with bots on PC, Hawakening exists. But yeah, bots are great to have.

Seems to work, but it's only deathmatch on a single training map for now.

I only stick with offline games usually because all the others are dying right from the start. If it requires internet then it's just a limited time thing.

It's such a shame. I have so many multiplayer games that I never had the time to reach max level in but I can't even play them anymore. In fact, I don't ever remember reaching max level in ANY multiplayer games because the lifespan was too short.

Especially with the game clearly advertised as having in-game purchases so it will still have a dependency on servers

so the game will die when servers are closed, and no tools to host by players

Is it? I only see some shady website that asks me to register. Doesnt even have any info about anything.

Also, you say its with bots. Can you not use Radmin or ZeroTier to imitate lan?

I have no idea, I only just learned about it yesterday because I was reading the Hawken wikipedia page. But yeah, I registered and downloaded it, and started playing. Was easy to get it working, although it cut off a couple times. It seems like they just take the actual game, but have it connect to a new server they made or something, which just fools the game into thinking it's connected, but can't actually recreate multiplayer. So maybe it's not actually offline.

Kind of stupid that they have their registration page up front without any actual information about it.

As much as i want to celebrate the game's revival, all i can think of is: it getting shut down in 5 or 10 years again :(

Battlefield 3 has something similar. I usually hop on and play with bots from time to time.
