I mean thats what happens when you dont listen to the fans or update the game.
Technically its still going on consoles, just not PC. It just never gets any updates.
It was always a good game that suffered from lack of new content.
I mean this describes almost every shooter ever boiled down to its basics lmao.
I think it was the first real "hero" style shooter in that it had the different classes of mechs that fit into different spots. Theres a lot more they could have done with this formula if theyd stuck with it.
What ultimately killed Hawken originally for me personally, was when they introduced more powerful versions of mechs into the cash shop. Up until that point I was a regular player and absolutely loved the game.
Instead of making new maps and new classes of mech, they just made "upgraded" versions of the existing mechs with slightly better stats, which basically turned the game into a pay to win scenario. Even if you could grind them out eventually, it wasnt the content that people had been asking for and the game didnt last much longer after that.
There ARE reasons why passionate players STILL consider original hawken to be one of best mecha multiplayer games.
But ALSO it had problems, which led to failure of it, sadly.

and now i remember how everything wasn't good, they tried patchworking a few issues here and there but destiny 2 IS the best example of what not do to if your game is pve and you wish to add pvp.
New content is impossible without solving all the technical debt, aka reworking and reverse engineering all the beginner mistakes adhesive made. MWO got a new mech every month for years, while hawken only ever had the initial mechs, then gradually they finished the additional ones that were part of the 12/12/12 pitch.
It's why console hawken got some really bootleg looking mechs when it launched, made from spare rigs and parts, and that was it.
this current mobile/console UI is painful to look at.
I don't understand why developers do this. There is always an old game that is shut down that players love and miss and then the developers come out with a new game and everyone gets excited, but the new game completely misses the mark.
Same happened with Block N Load 1. It was great when it was in beta, after it left beta it just kept getting worse, now it still has running servers, but it doesn't have enough players to start a match, so it's completely unplayable.
And what do the developers do? They make Block N Load 2 and me and others play the beta and the game completely misses the mark on everything the first game did well. People start asking the developers "why don't you just revive the old game?"... the developer answers "we don't have plans to revive the old game, you should play the new one instead".
This is completely crazy. Same is happening with Hawken right now.
general audience doesnt care and mech warrior fans have too much brain rot to leave mwo
just make hawken pvp a peer 2 peer game and leave it alone
