Saves on console stop saving

I get the confusing save system, so please dont point out that saving on the couch/bed saves the game, and sleeping in the car/van makes a temporary load point. I also get that this is a pc forum, but there is literally no place for console help.

Came back to this game from almost two years away due to broken ng+when I heard of the update with the hideout. Was already in ng+ from before so I tried playing but it stopped saving my progress. I'd do some robberies, save, then quit. When I loaded my save I'd lost a fair amount of progress. It ALWAYS goes to that same point. So I started a new game, played through the story, got every tool in ng+ and was designing my hideout, and all was fine. Then i hit a point where I cant save yet again. No matter what I do I lose the progress. Strange to load in a spot not saved at but a temporary spot where I got out of the van in front of 104.

Here is the interesting parts. Looking at my save file, I can see the last edit date being updated to reflect my last save. And yet, progress is lost. The most interesting part is that if I dont close out of the game and only quit to the menu then load my save, my progress is saved? However, once I close out of the game and reload, its reset back to the previous spot.

This really has me stumped and I'd appreciate any help, input, or ideas. Sucks to have games like this for console buut no help.

Thank god I'm not alone. I really want to finish the game but I hate putting in all that work and then it resets if I close the game

I'm also having the same problem. I'm stuck at the part where you have to steal the account details from 301. Doesn't matter what I do or how much I save I always revert back to that mission when I load the game. It's infuriating and I feel like my only option is to just power through and finish the game in one sitting

Same problem on ps5 now since the newest update keeps loading to the point where I’ve got to return the suitcase stolen from 701 can’t find anything online. I’ve slept multiple times and returned to main menu to load back in where I was at. Seems the same with yourself and it’s not saving when I go off the game

Having the same issue here on Xbox one. 😭 Was going thru and completing all my uncompleted houses and now it keeps going back to the pawn shop no matter where I try and save at.

Super disappointed to hear there's no fix... just started playing on ps5 (i had played but not finished on switch and pc) and everything was fine, up until the 206 living room camera mission. I decided to go do all the rent a thief missions for the 100s houses, took a few hours as I took everything in the houses with me, finally was ready to go to 206, but saw the 202 rare game contract and said what the hell. So I parked the van at the back left side, so that I could easily jump into the backyard, was exploring, marking cameras, got curious, jumped in the pool, got caught by an unseen camera, the guy came out, tased me, game crashed. I took a break, bought the dlc, loaded back up and now every time I load the game, no matter what it's before I ever started the rent a theif missions. I was really enjoying it and now I feel like there's no point because I can't even save.
