same game, same map, barely anyone bought it (like 10% the sales of the first one), and now the dev is releasing more DLC for the first one because obviously it is going to make more money offering DLC to 30k players compared to 3k who bought 2. I guess 2 is probably abandoned at this point then, so then my thread title - why does it even exist, what was the dev trying to do?

The anwser is actually different. We - Noble Muffins made the first game and want to support it even after few years. Thief Sim 2 is made by a different dev with the licence from our publisher Playway, If you want to know more about support for Thief Sim 2 you need to ask on their steam forum.

I have concerns about your ability to read maps. None of the maps in either game are the same. Are you sure you didn't just download a bootleg of Thief Sim 1 that was mislabeled as Thief Sim 2? I ask because Thief Sim 2 isn't in your Steam library, so I question if you've ever actually played it.
