Questions regarding the newest content update, ng+, and saving

I'm a returning console player who quit almost 2 years ago due to a widespread console (possibly a playstation exclusive) issue where you beat the story, started ng+, and the game thought you were in both and you couldnt do anything. You had no skills and gained no xp from anything, and none of the ng+ items were listed either (like the invisibility thing) Heard about the new content so I checked and my ng+ game now works.

Here are my questions:

1)Are people who played BEFORE the update and are already in ng+ good to go and able to do everything, like get the new hideout, without starting a new game? I can understand If a new game is required, but the games issues make me not want to start over. Not bashing the game, mind you, as I like it a lot.

2) Regarding saving, I'm having a problem losing progress. I know how to save on console. I do it frequently during robberies to create load points to maximize profits. Fill my backpack, grab a big item, sneak to the van, unload, sleep, repeat. I see the save icon appear after using my stash and after sleeping. If I get arrested, I even load to that point. Last few times I've played I've done this, went home, the pawn shop, then back home and slept. Yet when I loaded the next day I'd lost 25K and 3 robberies worth of progress. Redid it all, all while seeing the save icon countless times, and another robbery, and the same happened. What is this game not saving when the save icon popson screen bug? Any ideas about a way to fix it?

Aaaand I just lost over 100K of progress. Saved who knows how many times, and the date on my save file is from one minute ago, and YET when I just saved quit then reloaded, my progress, again, was from two days ago. Guess I have to quit AGAIN...

I'm at a loss. I'm saving, my save file is current, but the game isn't saving right. I did a test where I hit 150k and bought the cloaking device, then slept at the hideout several times. I then quit to the menu and reloaded and my progress was saved, however when I close and relaunch, my progress is back to a few days ago. Im on console, so theres only one save file. Someone please help? I know this isnt for console but I have nowhere else to turn to for help.

Just in case someone else runs into ths scenario, you DO need to start over on console. To anyone who saw my now deleted reply, Im sorry. One part frustration, 9 parts ptsd over the abuse suffered at the hands of the Lumberjacks Dynasty devs over asking for help on a game mechanic for a console game on a pc forum, who then made several false warnings for no reason.

Aaaand back to the save problem on a new game and save. Got through the story, did a lot in ng+ (including being disappointed at how broken the hideout is and how little of the games furniture is available.) Now I've hit a point again where saving doesnt save. Loading the game always goes to the same spot no matter where I saved. This game, and the total lack of help and actual bugfixes is beyond irritating.
