Respawning Loot?
Can someone confirm for me if/when loot respawns in each home? I've been stockpiling stolen items since I started my playthrough, thinking that I would eventually make more money on everything through the black market website, and I am noticing that nothing ever respawns in any of the houses I have robbed.

So my guess is one of two things happens. Either nothing ever respawns once you steal it, meaning the game effectively "ends" once you have stolen everything, or things only respawn once you sell them either online or at the pawn shop (or after an incredibly long period of time I suppose, though that seems hardly likely at this point). However, I regularly sell things like tv's and large paintings at the pawn shop, since otherwise they just sit in my car, and those things haven't respawned (at least not that I've seen). I have seen people mention specifically that large items don't respawn though, just no mention of whether or not other things do.

Does it work that way for all items? Really hoping that isn't the case, but it sure seems that way.

Update: Confirmed that certain, less valuable items do respawn, but only after they are sold at the pawn shop.

For example: TVs don't appear to respawn. Same with jewelry, games consoles, coffee machines, smartphones, tablets, computers, etc.

Smaller, cheaper things do such as: game controllers, money, pots, pans, cell phones, wine, headsets, remotes, etc.

Based on the fact that I've seen people rob the same houses repeatedly, I'm positive things are supposed to respawn.

Not sure some things do.

Do those people immediately sell everything? Or are they stockpiling things like I am?
I suppose it's possible that I have some crazy bug in my save file, but it's more likely that things only come back once they are sold.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I guess I'll have to sell some of my stash and test this out myself, but for now I will asume that small "less valuable" items respawn once sold. Will report back once I have had a chance to test this out further. Thanks for the input guys.

No problem. Will be interested in hearing your response. I've been playing more since I posted my message, and frankly am more positive it's the case. Objects necessary for completing the online orders don't seem to respawn either. Can't find a second "3 candlestick holder" anywhere, and the first one I found isn't respawning.

I hear ya. Only found one 3-candlestick holder and one hard drive, still missing several antiques.

I found another 3 candlestick holder much later in house 208. Hard-drives however are easy to find

Just an update: I had planned to test this out today with a few new save files, but the most recent patch is causing my game to stop responding on the startup loading screen. I've tried many of the suggested fixes here on the forums but it seems to just be a problem with the patch itself. I haven't forgotten though - I still plan to test this out as soon as I am able.

That seems to have done the trick! Thanks very much. :praisesun:

Ok, after some testing where I "robbed" the exact same house about a dozen times in a row, I can confirm that certain, less valuable items do respawn, but only after they are sold at the pawn shop. It would take more time than I care to spend figuring out exactly what items do and don't respawn in each house. :steambored:

Marking Flobba Job's original post as the correct answer - just be aware that you need to actually sell things for them to respawn!
