DirectX 9 Wrapper and Resolution Switcher
Posting these here in hopes that it won't get lost in the old web when Carpe Fulgur's web forum eventually bites the dust.

DirectX 9 Wrapper

This wraps the DirectX8 calls into DirectX9, improving some compability with modern software and hardware. It already helps with some things now (removes jitter fits in windowed mode on windows 8+, helps some programs force v-sync in fullscreen) and might help for future compatibility issues. This was specifically tweaked for this game (happens to work with Recettear too), where other more generic DirectX9 wrappers have shader issues that don't render most of the in game bosses.

Just drag files into the game folder, delete to uninstall.

Resolution Switcher

This lets you patch the game so that you can change the 1024x768 option to a widescreen resolution. Some of the game (cutscenes, menu, UI) will be a little buggy/ugly but the main gameplay looks nice.

Run the program in your game folder (get the latest exe version from Carpe Fulgur's website, Steam version of the exe won't work) and set your resolution, then set your config to 1024x768. Delete the game EXE and let steam redownload its own version to uninstall.

There was another mod that allowed you to disable the low health beep but I can not find it, if anyone has it, let me know.

Mediafire link for Resolution Switcher is dead, someone uploaded it to PCGW.

Now if vertical sync in exclusive fullscreen could be fixed. :P

Thank you for that link. If someone wants to upload the DX9 wrapper up there too, that'd be great.

You should be able to force v-sync with D3DOverrider, if not by itself then definitely with the DX9 wrapper installed.

This is all really useful stuff; I added you to my friendslist because of it!

Have you tested it thoroughly on this game? All I get is a crash when loading up a save.
