There's not much of a story in Chantelise so anything that's a witch hunt will do.
I've only played the 3DS version of this one, but it's definitely a game I'd recommend. Short game, but it has a fun battle system (think similar to Legend of Zelda or Threads of Fate), some nice boss fights (one boss in particular WILL give you trouble the first time even on Normal), and the art style's pretty good. Voice acting isn't too bad, either (though I wish the 3DS version had a working Japanese voice mode so that I could see what it's like, too (same combination and requirements as the PSP version, but the voice clips are missing)).
Also, I haven't found the chance to play it yet, but Recettear is another option as pointed out. Another personal recommendation (though it's not 3d, but it's part of the Carpe Fulger pack along with Chantelise and Recettear) is Fortune Summoners. Trust me. It's just as challenging as Chantelise for the most part (probably a bit more challenging), and the story's pretty lighthearted (which is honestly pretty rare to see these days).
Nah. Cream was tough, but she wasn't too bad on my first run for the 3DS version (by then I had a decent grasp on i-frames). Black Bean, on the other hand...let's just say it was a bad idea trying to use the Vampire Hat at level 4 (instead of level 5 for full life-leech effect) for the entirely of my first attempt against him (took two tries to beat him, and only because I decided to ditch the Vamp Hat idea for the second try. Thankfully I was better prepared for the fight on Hard). Crit-based healing sucks for a fight where you don't exactly have the luxury of timing your attacks every time, and the lack of damage/damage reduction really came back on me when I ended up burning through all of my items.
For that boss, I just switched between the hard hat and the vampire hat, and used the vampire hat whenever I had that chain of bats to jump on.
Anyhow, I played the PC version just fine so it may depend on your computer. FWIW I played it on a Windows 8.1 system with a core i5 (4th generation I think) and integrated 4400.
