Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Anyone play the prequel - Chantelise - A Tale of Two Sisters?
Title pretty much says it all. Anyone play the prequel to this game and how it compares to Recettear?

I know Chantelise is an technically more of an action RPG than Recettear, but unsure of the gameplay and if it adds anything to the story/town/setting of Recettear.

So if anyone's played Chantelise and has an opinion on the game or how it overlaps with the world created in Recetter, I'd love to hear it.

Wait, Chantelise is a prequel? It doesn't look like it has any correlation to this game...

from what i know i thought the only connection reccettear and Chantelise had was they were both published by the same publisher?

I call it a prequel since they're made by the same company, Elise shows up in a cameo appearance in Recettear, and it uses everything from items, abilities, girl/fairy main characters, and importance of an item shop.

It may not be an exact preequel, but the close tie-ins are there to make them very complimentary to each other. One game taking up the item shop side and the other taking up the adventurer side of the game world.

I decided against it though since the game difficulty is rated hardcore/extreme in the reviews I've watched/read. A pity. I really loved Recettear and Chantelise would have made a great companion game to keep playing in that game world, but since I'm turning 50 this year my ol' hand/eye coordination isn't what it used to be.

Keep in mind that carpe fulgur only localized the game. It is EasyGameStation that developped the game. That fortune game does not come from them, only chantelise and recettear.

But about Chantelise, yes it appears to be hardcore; mostly because you don't level up, so it is grind the money and hope loot drops to get further (and try not to die, that helps too). But at the current price, I think it is a good deal, it wasn't reviewed as a bad game (well, some says it's bad because it's hard).

I hope there is more localized game from EasyGameStation in a near future. These guys seem to have talent, and they don't go easy on players (First playthrough of Recettear is kind of hard, didn't pass the last payment)
Well, you're going to need a gamepad, as playing by keyboard is neigh impossible with this game. And don't expect it to be as much of a walk in the park as Recettear; Chantellise will ♥♥♥♥ you up and steal your walnut bread.
