Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Any Similar games?
At this point, its already common sense that Recettear is the best game ever made and even Zelda BotW would not stand a chance, but do you guys know similar games? I mean, RPG + "craft, sell your stuff and improve your store" thing. The only one that I can remember is Moonlighter.

FWIW this game was inspired by the Atelier series, and there are some stylistic similarities, but it's not the same kind of thing. The Atelier series is much more focused on crafting.

The gameplay in Touhou Mystia's Izakaya is quite different -- you are running a small food stand not a shop -- and you don't enter dungeons or have fights per se, but there are boss battles of a kind.

Anyway, if you enjoyed Recettear, I think there's a very good chance you'd enjoy Touhou Mystia's Izakaya too. Honestly, it's one of the best games I've played in years and I just stumbled upon it one day while endless scrolling Steam looking for games:

EDIT: I am gobsmacked by how inexpensive Touhou is -- there is a ton of content as well as two DLCs. For the regular price it's a steal; for the sale price it's a ludicrously good deal.

literally the same

Respectfully ... it really is not.

Where is the combat for one?

Guilds?

Hero recruiting?

Same genre, not the exact game. If you want all of that just replay Recettear. Those systems are not even that deep in this game.

The shop system is shallower than this game and the combat was only a bit better. I stopped after only 10 hours of play-through but it got the spirit

Indeed Moonlighter is very similar. I played for some time but I had this feeling that something is missing. Maybe it is too repetitive, idk. Not bad but more RPG content would turn this into an awesome game

Atelier games for SoL vibes. They're about crafting and not shop management, but the mood is very similar, very comfy. Combat is much better and crafting is very complex. Sophie 2 is the best one, but Sophie 1 is a good starting point as well.

One other game i know of and can highly recommend would be Kamidori Alchemy Meister. Sadly it is not on steam and only has a(really good) fan translation(It has Visual Novel elements too) but it is easy enough to find online. Has a lot of the same aspects, manage your store, craft and sells tuff, collect ingredients in Dungeons through RPG battles and lots of characters to add to your group with different stats and skills for combat or Store management. And different classes for your main fighters with upgrades you can unlock with materials. Just be warned that the game is rated 18 as it does have it's Visual Novel romance options going on..

This sounds like the least boring and most interactive-engaing visual novel I have ever heard of :ln_ratty: However, I need you to be more direct about the R18. Is it a light sexual premise or full on hentai? Easier to explain to my wife if I tell her ahead of time why I am playing a game where the shopkeep keeps getting banged.

Yeah definitely on the Hentai side of things, i don't know if there is an all ages version available though. A lot of the scenes are completely optional though and even if not, the girls are cute so it's fine xD
But that part aside the game is great, played it for over 50 hours and didn't even finish the main Story at that point(only stopped thanks to hardware problems)
Even if one is not a fan of Visual Novels or Hentai stuff i'd still recommend based on the gameplay alone.

Yeah I'll definitely check it out, maybe I'll make it a drinking game anytime there is hentai.
Came here to recommend Kamidori Alchemy Meister.

The hentai game where you play for 15 hours without seeing a single titty then suddenly remember "oh, right! it's supposed to be hentai!"
