Best way to make money. Not a great way to get all of the games content.
That's too slow, the dungeons are the best way to get a fast start, you should go at least a few times near the beginning. Once for each dungeon, making basically your entire way through, if only to unlock the good ones. In the early game you'll never make more money then you can make from water crystals and magic inkwells. Assuming, of course, you know what to do with them.
You should do dungeons to get Caillou's ingredients but after that you make more from fusion and market/guild buying. More time selling = more time leveling your customers.
That's a good point, I didn't consider customer leveling, only raw value and the fact that you have such a small cash reserve to start off. I still stand by inkwells and burnt lizards however. 14,000 for one item in the beginning is just too darn good. Of course you'd have to know to craft the items from the inkwell and lizard, but I'm pretty sure most people figure that stuff out pretty fast.
You should also be completing every dungeon at least once to get the new customers.
best strategy for the game? which is to make the money goals while still unlocking the quest/story/new dungeons/characters.
best strategy for endless mode where we strive to survive as long as possible?
to make money we should do two things.
1.) raise people's budgets by making them happy,
2.) raise our XP to allow better things to buy to sell.
what I typically do is spend the first day in the dungeon grabbing a host of crap people will buy, cheap garbage, food, weapons, armor. nothing too expensive. which we sell at 103 base.
which keeps a combo chain going quickly raising budgets and XP
not so much monster parts unless those parts can be used in crafting.
once our XP and budget goes up we start buying or crafting some big ticket items. which we sell at as high as we can get for them.
if we get an event where 'men are buying longswords' we buy like 5 longswords and stick them on display. the men come in and buy our longswords. then the rest of the men come to the counter and ask for a WEAPON. which we sell them very expensive weapons at decent markup.
like we can buy crystal swords for what 20,000 and sell them depending on market conditions
but this way we focus on a specific customer get his budget up and then fleece him on higher price weapons for heavy profit.
easily clearing your monetary goals. at which point we want to unlock dungeons and cutscenes.
So day 1, we go to the store, buy a longsword. and a chestplate with our lucre.
go to the shop, stick the items on the shelves, sell the walnut bread at 103. end the day.
Day 2 we go to the adventurers guild take louie, give him the longsword. wander thru the first dungeon. I found stuff, waay too much slime fluid couldn't fill up my 20 items got like 10 items and some garbage, and a longsword +3.
so I do the second dungeon with louie and his longsword +3. I clear all 15 floors and get several items worth over 1000
so I got like 5000 in loot from the first dungeon and 50,000? from the 15 floors of the second dungeon. on day 2. I could make an item list.
there are other dungeons, but if I can make 50,000 in 15 floors in the second dungeon
we can get our lucre goal, very easily. God knows how lucky I was on this run. but louie is now level 16.
Day 3, I would liquidate some items to help customer rep and budget.
if you look at customer budget they start at 600-3600 for the regular customers. and grow to 600,000 or 1,200,000 for the old man. so you really want to make the old man happy, selling a piece of walnut bread you found in the dungeon for 103 lucre makes that happen. so that later on you can sell your magnet amulet for 15000. so lets look at day 3.
Did a 2 days of sales (since you can't dungeon on day 4) sold most of my dungeon loot, made merchant level 8 day 5 I went in the jade path twice, Day 6 and 7 I sold loot. start of day 8 I'm at around 50,000, with again a good amount of items I can't sell yet due to reputation being too low. made merchant level 11, which is the first more items.
I believe I have Charme and Calliou's adventure cards. Now at this point, I think its best to go to the adventurers guild and buy items.
see the dungeon is good early on because you find some cheap food with +4 modifier, lets say walnut bread, you sell it for 103, which is barely anything, you roll a just bonus +6 rep, two pieces of bread increases their budget substantially. making things later MUCH easier. without that, you'd need to sell at least 5 pieces.
so that's really your goal, running thru those dungeons grabbing a bunch of +X food that sells for around 1000 Lucre. and sell it for 103% base. you do that. just that, easy 50,000 a week which gets you thru the first 3 weeks. week 4 and week 5 however the repayment shoots up to 200,000 and 500,000. and this isn't going to cut it.
however by that time you've increased the budgets of the shoppers, increased your shop XP, and you can start selling, dunno 10,000 items, maybe with a 30% markup.... you'd need 53 of those to manage it.
but see the old man, you get him a single heart from 10 rep, his budget increases by 120,000
the woman increases by 36,000, the man increases by 60,000.
and you can sell a couple items to the old man during a high price season for 250% base. a crystal sword is 28,000 base. so we can make a good 50,000 off a single crystal sword. given the right market conditions. using the crystal sword as an example.
point is we build rep with cheap walnut bread we found on the ground and make our quotas with overpriced high end items.
day whatever. I got a news event old men are seeking holy objects.
so I went out and bought some holy objects. unfortunately the price of longswords dropped as I returned. but I got the guys in the store and sold them the stuff at a 128 Base minimum. which I can get some cute carpet at 35,000 and sell it for 64000
Profit of 29,000. I had about 110,000 went out and spent it all ended up with 140,000 after the rush. +more inventory.
if it had been later on in the game I could have made more money of the news with more options. could have easily turned 110,000 into 200,000 working a news event like this.
endgame goal is 820,000 Lucre. so if you get someone's budget, like the old man to lets say over 256,000 which is 2 or 3 hearts.
buy checkered floor for 140,000 and sell checkered floor for 128 base we can make bank in around 3 floors. so if we had 420,000 got such an event, ran out and bought 3 checkered floors, and some other holy items, displayed 4 holy items. old men come in.
buy our 3 checkered floors for 256,000 each.we are at 768,000. now that takes a decent chunk of change and a good swing of RNG. but thats how you make the serious lucre
but without RNG, you get something you buy for around 35,000 Lucre, so you buy like 7 of them for 235,000 lucre, you sell them for 64,000 lucre. you are at 445,000 lucre, repeat, buy something larger for more lucre and the same markup. like 3 checkered floors for 420,000 lucre, and sell for 768,000 lucre. it snowballs.
alternatively we buy things like melons. which come in packs of 6 when you reach merchant 18 and more/infinite at higher ranks. when the price of sweets is high we can get about 18,000 profit. per melon. *that* is enough money to get your goal of 820,000 Pix.
melons being an example, anything with around 10,000 base price works in a boon.
Day 1 buy a longsword and spend all your cash
Day 2 and 3 dungeon crawl clearing the first dungeon once and second on 3 times
Goal is things you can sell ideally things like foodstuffs worth700-1600 with +modifiers on them
Then you go and sell that stuff at 103 base till you hit level 18 merchant rank
At level 18 merchant rank basically whant we want to do is buy high and sell higher
What i mean is you buy red items like silver armor and sell them for 260 base. 217 is near pin red prices so if you dont want to fleece them quite so hard fine
But pretty sure you can clear 100k a day so 8 days of that debt is paid off and then you unlock dungeons and explore
Such is the best strategy
https://recettear.fandom.com/wiki/Silver_Armor
Example buying high is buying at 84% base. selling high is selling at at least 217% base.
which is profit of 133 base. or maybe we could push it for selling at 260 for 176% base profit.
so in the case of silver armor in a high period, you make 13300 per sale, or 17600 per sale, or if you fail to sell them during the high period you make 1,600 per sale at 100% base.
which is not quite tripling your money.
if you have the funds having some SuperVend DX on hand if case a customer comes buy and asks for something metal.
if metal is selling high, and the budget of the customer is good. you could theoretically have an advance order for 3 metal items. we hypothetically could have bought 3 when the price was low for 200K and sold them to an advanced order for 228% base for 820K when the price is high.
which I suppose Allouette starts with the budget for. various other characters could manage it with raised reputation. Wouldn't call it the best strategy because it requires the stars to allign. its day 23, and the rich girl hasn't been in my store once.
but if I was doing a least time approach to making 820,000 pix thats my path.
without doing things though, simply increasing customer Rep and budget on dungeon trash, and selling them items the market is high on for 220 ish base I'm clearing 300,000 a day. toward the end of the third week.
From there, always sell at 106% and buy at 70% (x2 for red, x0.5 for blue text items). This will maximize your at/near pin bonus and get your level flying fast. You could technically sell at 110% without much fear of haggling and still get some pins, but it wont be nearly as frequently. Pins and near pins on top of the combo will give you ridiculous amounts of exp, which lets you rush higher tier items.
Also, like others have been saying, rush Jade Way and then stop dungeoning entirely.
In comparison if you sell higher, you get more money early on but customers heart dont grow well and when you reach higher priced items, customer have no budget for them.
I normally dont do dungeons coz i find them boring, just random boxes that is not immersive for me. Working the store is more fun for me. I once tried dungeon right at day 1, it did get get me more money than just starting with shop.
otherwise you have 1000 gold which you can sell, then go to the store to get more material with what 2000 gold? sell that and get 4000 gold.
so its 4000 gold vs 9000 gold. you just have to know what to pick up and what you can easily sell.
eventually after you get REP up with the customers you can easily get 15000 gold + a few times worth 10,000
and once you have cash on hand sitting around and some items+ from merchant levels you can increase your funds a good 30% buying from vendors. at which point, buying from vendors becomes better. but early on when you have no funds, the dungeon crawl is worth more money.
