Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Similar games?
Recettear is an aging title and I want to know if anyone else has made a more modern adventurer & shop simulator? Preferably one more laid back where I don't have to pay $100,000 this month or go bankrupt?

I actually never beat Recettear because I kept falling short of the payments. But I like the concept and would love a more modern game with the same idea.

Weapon Shop Fantasy has some similar elements, though the "adventure" portion of the game is much more automated and "idle-like."

Weapon Shop Fantasy looks alright. I put it on my wishlist. Thanks!

Potionomics is the closest I've seen on the merchant side. Though instead of becoming the adventurer you just send them out. But you'll notice lots of similarities in the time mechanic, setting up shop, and dealing with customers.

I would have like Potionomics if the game was actually about making money and not just making specific potions are regular intervals. Replace the competitions with regular debt payments and then I'd say it's a excellent competitor to Reccetear.

Still the closest I've found. And I do wish it had a survival mode like this does

Touhou Mystia's Izakaya! It's great. No dungeon crawling, the other half of the game is gathering ingredients and talking to characters to raise your bonds. You get quests from them to obtain more recipes, and your goal at night is to run your Izakaya (restaurant) and keep the customers happy. NPCs both generic and rare all have tastes, and the rare guests have dislikes and can either buff or debuff you if you make them pleased/displeased. It's the only game I've found that scratches a similar itch and it's been so many years! Recommend all the DLC too, it just makes the game bigger.
