Expect nothing 'special', and you will be very happy indeed. It's (currently) my go-to time killer for some gentle racing for me but I choose easy settings. Increase the difficulty and it will kick your ass.
I use a keyboard and set the difficulty level to suit myself and I have been very happy with the challenges I am given.
Loads of content to be consumed at your leisure. If it's cheap enough for you and fulfils your racing brief I would not hesitate to to recommend it.
Never played Forza. I have all the Grid games and have never had an issue. Don't overthink this controls thing. Enjoy the game.
