While drift events are not everyone's cup-of-tea, racing games need that kind of sideshow to stand out from the pack.
I am more worried about the easy AI. I watched some gameplay video's and the AI is way too easy and too slow. Is there a more hardcore AI setting in the game?
And thank the gods... they removed Drift events. Those events break race games and are hated in race games, now adays.
I never liked drifting much but I do think it's odd that drifting modes were taken out completely.
I think you are mistaken. Drift was in grid 2 and it was very bad.
I think they will add drift events in DLC lol.
GRID without drift is... not very interesting, and I certainly wouldn't buy it without drifting. I'll just play the original with drifting.
There's a ton of drifting in GRID 1. It's the most fun part of GRID 1.

The "haters" aren't forced to do drifting, so their argument boils down to "I DON'T LIKE IT PERSONALLY...SO NO ONE ELSE SHOULD ENJOY IT" which is plain childish.
If you think that's unfair strawmanning than you're welcome to provide the "real reason".
Where does it say "GRID IS STRICTLY RACING"?
Drifting is a motorsport, it's been professional in Japan for over 30 years, before that it was a cornering technique in racing.
