Manual shifter issue

I'm new to GRID franchise so be gentle :)
Could anyone explain me how properly use manual shifter (H shape from Logitech G923 combo)?
As in other games I do not have problems with clutch control and gear shifts are quick, but in GRID I often stay on Neutral and have to try several times to engage proper gear.
I guess it just requires proper and deep clutch press and my pedals are moving around as they are not fixed to the floor yet ;)
I want to use manual gearbox for immersion but still enjoy the game and win some matches from time to time :)

For this kind of immersion I think you would like more:
Assetto Corsa
Automobilista 1 and 2
rFactor 1 and 2
Even Project CARS 1 and 2, or Dirt Rally 1 and 2 are good for it for the H shifters.
Assetto Corsa Competizione, as far as I know, is paddle shifter only cars.

Also, the "FFB" (if you can consider that because it is slightly strong wheel and have wheel recentering) at GRID is bland, just slightly strong FFB without proper track details (well, tracks are not laser scanned anyway so I guess devs gone "why bother with details"), without car reactions to your inputs (such as weight transfer, sliding, locking tyres and loss of grip).
FFB at any of the other games I listed above is way much better and convey much more (in case you did not try any of these, you will not be disappointed and will see what your G923 can actually deliver to you :D)

Thanks. Just bought Automobilista 2 and rFactor 2. Have VR headset so VR support is a plus.
Assetto Corsa. Dirt Rally 2 and Project Cars 2 are already in my lib.

Well, Automobilista 2 does not have G923 support. In G920 mode nothing is recognized, wheel and pedals calibration do not register anything. I have to run it in legacy mode. It works but not the way I expected. Logitech promised G923 to act like G920 whenever there is no direct support for G923 but I cant find any evidence of it being true. Forza Horizon 4 has G920 support and G923 is seen as unknown device so same thing - legacy mode and all controls needs to be assigned manually.
Logitech software department never been stellar but it is becoming worse and worse witch each year.

Using GHUB, Logitech Gaming Spftware or both?

I know it may sound weird but, have you tried the G29 config at AMS2?

Yes, it is weird. I'm not getting any response on wheel or pedal calibration screen so calibration is out of question. I'm kind of getting layout configured but if I do not repeat assignment on already assigned inputs, I'll get nothing. Just tested it (with forced steam input off) and when switched from legacy to G29 layout is there, but it will not be recognized at all if I do nothing more and jump straight into the race. If I go to Assignment screen and repeat all what is already assigned, apart from reverse gear on g shifter which switch from button 18 to button 11, will stay the same, but in the race what I reassigned will be recognized.
But because calibration do not work, in order to steer, i need to turn whole 900 degree, not very useful with race game (good for Snowrunner thou).
So using predefined layout gives me nothing but takes away calibration. Rev meter do not work either but well, that is how it is for 99% of games.

That is weird indeed.
I have a G29, I know sometimes I switch to G27 or G25 (reason why I told you to try to change to G29 to check) but, it works here.

To test that engine can be damaged (or be terminated) in case of wrong use of gears to show to someone else.

But it run.
I really dont know what could be the cause.
Just in case, check your regedit for:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_046D&PID_C24F

And check if it is this value for:
OEMName: "Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB" instead of "G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel"

OEMData: 43 00 08 10 19 00 00 00 instead of 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 00" or something else

Oh sorry sorry

Somehow I had in my head the G29 and forgot yours was a G923, sorry.
(still, I think it will try to recognize as G29 in this case because of the registry change)

In case it change nothing or cause problem, return yours to 43 00 08 10 12 00 00 00
Again, sorry, I was doing something else and got confused when I made the search.
I could not find the correct values for the G923 so, in case nothing happen or some trouble show up, revert to the value you mentioned: 43 00 08 10 12 00 00 00

Yeah it gets detected as G29 but everything is messed up. So I guess they look similar but they are completely incompatible with each other :/

I know this is an older topic but for anyone having a specific issue with the Manual Shifter not engaging properly in Grid Legends you need to lessen the Clutchs > Saturation in the Controls > select wheel then Edit Device > select Clutch binding and edit > adjust Saturation to be less (I set at 50 then increase till it feels right also set deadzone between 0-10)

Should help took me a bit to figure out but it works for me gears act like they should now.
