Split Screen?

For me too, if they bring splitscreen, for at least quick race against cpu then i would buy it.

Imo, splitscreen in simcade/full arcade should be obvious. Like, I know newer games are all about online multiplayer but... I don't get why a lot of the newer games(just look at the F1 games, the latest DiRT games... and that's just Codemaster games) don't even have it.

EDIT: what do you mean with the performance being awfull? Is it because they're still working on it or something else?

Because developers think that graphical fidelity is only thing that matters in a game anymore, so they make games that can barely run single player. Add in the resources needed to run two instances, as would be required for splitscreen, and you'd be playing a slide show.

I'd rather developers prioritize gameplay and ux over having the best looking games. Perfect Dark looked like crud but it was actually fun because you had splitscreen.

Split screen means 2x rendering...at 4k ultra the 2080ti struggles to have 60fps....so with split screen it will be render at 30fps....

Codemasters did reply to me when I asked the question and said it would be available after launch (of course no idea how long that will take!) but I cannot even play the game as having the DX 12 error coming up as do many other people. All this time developing and yet it appears not much testing!

now that most games can be played multiplayer on line, there is zero need for something as archaic as split screen, it would just be a huge step backwards, dont want it, dont need it, hope it fades into oblivion

Split screen offers a much different fun that even the latest tech steering wheel simulators can not give. It is completely useless when you are alone at home but there is a reason why there are still some solid racing games out there, in 2020, supporting split screen. Its enjoyment comes from NOT beating your opponent but laughing at each other simultaneously, getting to the summit of enjoyment with your brother, sister, children, husband, wife, buddy, cousin, uncle, grandparents, grandchildren.... etc. Not every single being is using those games to enlarge his/her ego. They do not care if they lost or won during a GAME. They just want to enjoy thrill and fun with their closest friends and relatives inside a colorful rectangle that gives out sound...

it is certain that Codemasters does not even KNOW why some people want and enjoy split-screen gaming within a racing game. They do not know why two people would want to play splitscreen instead of playing multiplayer from two different PCs.
