Uhh that's not even slightly the same, WoW CoD and Gears 5 have support for DX12 on W7 straight through microsoft themselves; it's as close as "native support" as you can get because they themselves ported it over. It's nothing like forcing dx11 on xp through some weird russian patch.
crashes can be caused by badly maintained system. after i solved my dx12 issues on win 10, game runs like a dream. i run it in 4k maxed out settings with GTX 1080 and no lag or crashes, played 3 hours straight with no issues whatsoever.
I'm not saying it's necessarily your pc, but most likely it is. could also be sound drivers, i noticed GRID requires more than just casual audio, try updating your audio drivers and see if that fixes it.
Thanks for the reply. My system is fully maintained and I check it almost daily for updates and system tweeks. Just received my refund now, but hey, I could always buy it for my Xbox. I’m sure that would be a much happier experience.
personally i'd never give up, but well if you rather get a refund than play, well up to you. I guess that's why ppl praise the consoles, cuz all consoles are exactly same, so if devs test it and it works, then it will work on all consoles, but PCs have millions of different hardware and software configurations and you never know when something goes wrong.
Usually i'd be very mad if game doesn't work on launch, but DX12 is very new, this is second game that I see, which uses DX12. just give everyone time to optimize DX12 related stuff.
old specs phenom 955 be cpu
msi 970 gaming motherboard
gtx 760 graphics
ddr3 ram. game would not go past start screen,
new specs
ryzen 2600 cpu
msi tomahawk max board
same card gtx 760
ddr4 ram.
game now works like a dream, very expensive i know but hey i needed to upgrade anyway,
im thinking its a cpu problem as i tried a titan x gfx card and faster ram overclocked cpu still would not launch.
hope this helps someone
Ohh and thanks Kong for the help.
I have literally spent all day tweaking every setting and trying every fix...
I Applied the fix posted by K0ng__ in the Steam forums to limit the usage of DX to 11.1, this did make a slight improvement but not much. (entitled fixing the game against developers will.. (forcing DX11 through Windows.)
I then saw in the crash logs that it was using my onboARD graphics , not my NVIDIA gfx card,
Then I setup a rule in nvidia control panel to use the nvidia card for the grid_12x.exe file , but this still caused the game to crash when i went into 'options | video'
when I cheked the crash log i saw it was still using my onboard gfx , not my nvidia card
Went back to nvidia control panel, created a global setting for EVERYtHING to use the nvidia card and at the same time I un-did everything in Kongs__ steam fix...
Then I launched GRID and it worked!
I dont know if I needed to do both the global setting AND undo K0ngs__ settings.. but its working AND ITS WELL worth it!!
Good luck all , I hope this helps you!
Axe
Thnx Kong it worked ))
Not the first time after adding your fix but after 2 times starting the game i quickly changed to windowed(alt enter) in the game and changed that to windowed fullscreen, now it works!
now multiplayer fix......
