How trustworthy is MangaGamer?
I've never used the website before and it seems a litte shady.

They've been around for years and are one of the main companies in the business of localizing visual novels. They are trustworthy, I have bought many things from their website as have many others without any problems.

Like what Orange said, I've boughten quite a few games (maybe too many games) from MangaGamer, they're 1 of about 3 main companies that licenses and localizes visual novels for western releases.

I'd like to think we're trustworthy~ Our website is a little outdated, but we're certainly a reputable and true business. If you ever have any concerns about our products, you can always send an email to our customer support. We'd be happy to help you in any way we can. :)

Thank you all for your answers.

I just fear any website that I never heard of before.

Yeah i remember the first time I heard about them. It was years ago, but I really wanted to read Shuffle. Never had any complaints with them. And I'm greatful for the person that let me know about them.

They're very trustworthy. I used their website many times and did not have any problems.

The three primary sites one has for localized VNs and other similar things are MangaGamer, Denpasoft, and JAST USA. I have zero issue giving any of them money under normal circumstances.

Nutaku is all shady, but that may be just my impression because they're the FNG in this scenario. Microtransaction-based web-games don't help the matter.

P.S - Mangagamer may not be able to take Paypal because US laws on identification: Same reason getting on porn sites requires a credit card. That said, they can accept the debit cards issued by PayPal, so if you have one of those, you're golden.

I thought Paypal just didn't allow using it for porn in general. Not really something specific to MG.
Lord Crocosquirrel Jan 20, 2018 @ 11:54pm
That is PayPal's policy, but the rules here in the US are "Credit card or no porn for j00." It's not specific to PayPal, it's a blanket rule put in place during the late 90s.

There are places that flaunt that rule, bu that's on them when/if enforcement is attempted.

I trust them since they are the one who licensed the game in the first place. Hope more and more great visual novel licensed and sold on Steam. Really like this game

They are most trustworthy in VN scene. I always buy their releases on their website.
I believe in mangagamer since I knew Bamboo (Hiroshi Takeuchi) himself is involved as producer
(and they also released shuffle!)
for ppl who don't know, he's the producer for OVERDRIVE (and milktub's vocal/lead), explained why (almost) all their VN's have an english releases

Depends on the game, but most of them are overpriced. Some are enjoyable though. This one actually lags when you click on text... first ever visual novel in my life that managed to lag when you try to read it.... eh, it hurts...

[Just fixed that, you need to adjust text speed to fast and "lag" disappears, I still don't get why that "lag" exists AFTER you click mouse to show rest of the text]
