hidden and dangerous action pack unkon error

when every i have tried to play hidden and dangerous action pack it wont let me. it says can not initialize 3D system. i have direct play on. tried with it off as well same error. i have no idea why the action pack wont work. i paid money for the bundle for the action pack as well as hidden and dangerous 2. Also deluxe will work but action pack wont dose anyone have any ideas?

What resolution are you trying to run the game in?

2560 x 1440 which is has it as a option. i think i have tried other res as well and still same issue.

I have a 2560x1440p monitor as well, but it seems the original games (not the Deluxe) only support up to full hd. Any higher resolution will result in the error you mentioned. However 1920x1080p should run fine, would you share your launch setup?

start game in safe mode and adjust the settings in game.

Okay thank you, but how do i run in in safe mode in steam? i can seem to figure that one out.
