Hold shift while launching to change resolution not working

Already 10fps in main menu with all settings at lowest, probably would work if I could lower resolution... also I was told there would be paladin but I'm not seeing it... hope it comes soon?

Also, pressing f5 to manually choose server isn't working for me. Perhaps steam is stealing the keyboard detection during launch or something? Would explain both of those problems.
