White is unranked due to not enough matches played.
EDIT: I also don't know if your actual rank has any effect on your color rank. It doesn't appear like there is.
The reason this happened is because you start off as white, then after a few matches are made light-green. Then after winning a few matches against people that are the same color as you, you either go up to yellow, or down to dark green. The only way to go up or down a color is by winning or losing too many matches against people the same color as you. This is the same system as in most ASW games.
When u win a match against the same color opponent as you, you go up a point, you go down a point if you lose against the same color. Once you reach a total of +10 or -10 you either go up or down a color. (These numbers are hidden, however, so you need to keep track.)
Also, yes, it is separate from your other rank. Think of the colored square as more of a “skill level” but it’s not the most accurate system.
It also worth nothing many ASW games have name colors as well. Purple name = high disconnect rate, White name = standard disconnection rate, Green Name = very low disconnection rate. Also, I have not tried it in crosstag yet, but you can usually mark players you have played against and they’re name will show up as a deep red.
