Lords & Ladies, our march to greatness continues with Update 72. This time we have prepared for you a brand new Historical Story Mission that follows the life of the Norwegian king Harald Hardrada, a new Mercenary Faction Unit, new Paragon Skill for the Assist Trait Animal Companions, an extension of the Gemstones feature, a long list of balance changes and quality of life improvement and more!

[NEW FEATURES]

- New Historical Story Mission: “The Last Real Viking” – follow the steps of King Harald Hardrada from Norway. Take charge of his amazing life story starting when he was only 15 years old during the Battle of Stiklestad, all the way up to his demise in 1066 during the Battle of Stamford Bridge. Many modern historians refer to Harald’s death as “the end of the Viking Age”

- New Mercenary Faction Unit: Carthaginian War Elephant – this brand new Army Unit classifies as both Mercenary and Faction unit (just like the first unit of this type – the Kheshig). The Carthaginian War Elephant takes 65% less damage from enemy attacks and has an area of effect attack that can push back enemies. Having this unit in your Army Formation will also reduce the enemy player’s Army Defense by 5%

- New Paragon Skill: “Instant Hunt” – only available during the Age of Excellence. When activated this Paragon Skill allows you to perform the next 3 animal hunts instantaneously without reducing the hunting tile’s potency

- Gemstones extension – following the release of Update 72 the maximum level of Gemstones will be raised to level 9. Upgrading your Gems beyond level 8 will require a new resource called “Jeweler’s Chisels”

- Age of Excellence – shortly after the release of Update 72 we will march into the Age of Excellence. This age comes with a new set of Realm buffs and conditions like: 3 extra Mercenary squads can be added in Army Formations / all Paragon Points gains are increased by 5% and others

- World Encounters theme rotation – Ronins are about to invade the Realms! Get ready to smash their camps and retrieve the treasures they have stolen

[BALANCE CHANGES AND IMPROVEMENTS]

- Holy Site Regional Building – the Army Attack Boost will now provide Army Health as well. In addition, the Holy Site can now provide 2 new boosts: Champion XP and March Size VS Encounters

- All Regional Focuses except Mobilization have been greatly improved

- Alliance Mine Raid is getting buffed with decreased starting Keys cost of 750 (instead of 1000), increased resource cap for all resource types, 4 free marches (instead of 2) and Gathered Resource Bonus can be bought 5 more times

- Mercenary Den offers significantly improved

[NEW FEATURES]

1. Seasons Pass – a brand new limited-time progression with great rewards! Complete Daily and Weekly Challenges to earn Battle Points and conquer the milestones. A great reward will be unlocked for each milestone. Purchase the Premium Pass to get even more exclusive rewards!

2. Champion Classes Extension – the maximum Champion Classes rank has been increased to rank 8. This extension comes with new Champion Class Talents in each tree.

3. Castle Level Extension – the maximum Castle level has been increased to 36. This extension comes with new Academy Researches in each Era (both Basic and Advanced).

4. Arctic Tiger - new March Trait Animal Companion. Has the ability to buff and de-buff Swordsmen units. It also has the ability to reduce all enemy combat healing in battle.

1. Christmas Event Shop – opens 22 December 2023 – 2 January 2024. Participate in time-limited events to gain event shop currency and use it to acquire the items you desire!

2. Festive Village Event – join forces with all the rulers in your Realm to build the most magnificent Festive Village! Upgrade your Village to spawn more crates and collect them for festive rewards!

[BALANCE CHANGES]

1. Animal Companions Damage Effectiveness
We are introducing a change that will affect how much damage your March Trait Animal Companions deal, specifically with Traits that directly deal damage. Each affected Animal Companion Trait is marked with a new icon that provides information about the mechanic.
Your Animal Companions will deal damage based on the number of troops in your march and the tier of those troops. Partially filled marches and lower tier troops will result in a reduction in the Animal Companion's damage. Note that this reduction is most significant after Stronghold level 30, especially for Tier 1-3 troops.

Also note that if you are using a full march of high tier units (Tiers 5 & 6), you will not see any reduction in Animal Companion damage - the animal will deal 100% of its damage, as it was prior to this update. Using the highest available tier units will always result in maximum effectiveness.
This mechanic will also affect rallies - in this case the average effectiveness of the different troop tiers in the rally will be taken into account. Note that when sending troops to a rally, the effectiveness displayed to you will not necessarily be the same when a battle actually occurs. The value shown is only an indication of your individual contribution to the rally. Also note that in Raids, effectiveness will be reduced as troops get wounded after each wave.

2. Festive Village event
Each upgrade of the Festive Village will now spawn more Festive Crates. For example, before we implemented this change, at Festive Village level 10 only 1800 Crates spawned on the map. Now at level 10, the Festive Village will spawn 3400 Crates. In addition, the Crates loot pool has been improved with more and better items.

3. Upgrading Mythic Equipment items now costs a bit more Mythic Bars

2. Pumpkin Hunt – join the Halloween Pumpkin Hunt event every day and make the most Jack-o-lanterns for your Castle
3. Halloween Event Shop (31 October – 9 November) – participate in time-limited events to gain event shop currency and use this currency to acquire the items you desire

In this update we rallied our efforts, aiming to create a better balance for most of our time-limited events and some progression systems. Without any further ado, let’s see what the future of the Realms holds.

EVENT REWARDS
***Dev notes: We are currently working on increasing and improving the Milestone and Leaderboard rewards for all existing events. Those changes will take place around 10 days after we release Update 68. The goal is to improve the balance for the acquisition of some resources that are crucial for the mid-late game progression.

We are also happy to share that this year we are in partnership with Viagem - the biggest European Medieval festival. To commemorate this partnership we have prepared a special new Historical Story Mission called “The Battle of Aljubarrota” and a unique new Castle skin that you can claim for free until the end of August. On top of all that, we are marching closer to our 8th birthday on 13 August. Many festivities and gifts await!

[NEW FEATURES]

- Grand Chevaliers’ Event
A unique new event featuring 3rd person and 1st person gameplay mechanics. Test your mind and skill in the three different game modes: Jousting Encounter, Crossbow Competition and Obstacles Race. - New Historical Story Mission “The Battle of Aljubarrota”
This new Historical story Mission was prepared in celebration of our partnership with Viagem – the biggest European Medieval festival. It follows the story of King Joao I of Portugal and his general Nuno Álvares Pereira during the Portuguese Crisis of 1383 – 1385. Complete the Story Mission successfully to claim all the prizes and to unlock King Joao as your new personal champion.

[NEW FEATURES]

• New Animal Companion – Recon Falcon – this new PVE March Trait Animal Companion will be of great service to you when you march against the World Encounter Camps. Its abilities allow you to save Encounter Reward Points, gain additional Attack, more Guardian Points or even extra guaranteed chests when defeating an Encounter Camp.
  
• All 12 existing Cloak equipment items have been reworked with better stats and new bonuses

[QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS]

• Warpath flow and Stamina improvements – Stamina deficiency caused players to repeat unnecessary steps when setting up their Army Formation before a Warpath battle. This has been fixed by reworking the flow of the Warpath menu. You can also now stack Warpath Stamina over the limit by claiming Stamina items.
  
• Guardian Pass and Guardian Swiftness timer has been added – allowing you to see how much time you have left without entering the Bonuses and Effects menu
