light reflections on water are ugly
seriously, its a line of yellow pixels that makes it look like the torches are peeing into the water, if this is supposed to be the light refracting off the water, its terribly implemented and executed.

so its supposed to look like the light is dripping off your torch in an inverted manner, up towards the source, which is totally backwards?

i mean i know its a pixel game and standards need to be lower, but wow, just... wow.

-edit-
can confirm this 'peeing light' issue only occurs at night, which means its something the developer can fix because it is not an issue during the day.

well i cant see what you see.... as it a still bild /screenshot
like... on how bad it's actually flikering...

but u with 31hrs into the game... so this just happens... or.. ?

to what u say

it be like u just reflected on the reflections,,, now after 31 hrs... hehe
and not a glitch / bug that just happen...

first of all, just type what you mean in google translate then let it do the English for you, because your English... isn't.

secondly, just because I've let the game run in the background overnight and it racked up dozens of extra hours does not negate my argument about the light refraction being bad.

simp and boot lick all you want, it won't change the fact that the night time light refraction is garbage.

and a better question is, how have you played this absolute basic game for over a thousand hours and never realized how sub par the lighting is? says a lot more about you than me

oK... night time light refraction is garbage.

Physics discussion:

Discussion about a similar in game implementation with Unity, the game engine used on Kingdom:

IMO, if the real-life phenomenon on unprocessed photos can cause some confusion and spark some discussion, it's actually to be expected that a game that tries to replicate this physics would please many while also being criticized by some.
very interesting sapador! it's amazing that phenomena that seem so simple can have such counter-intuitive explanations. i never thought about the fact that it was weird that a setting sun makes a line on the water instead of a circle.

however, i suspect that the OP might not be interested in physics. they are calling light reflecting off water 'refraction' to sound smart without having any idea what refraction is. they also use words like 'simp' while criticizing the English of the people taking the time to interact with them on an international forum, while ignoring their idiomatic wordplay. probably went over their head.

OP, ask for a refund. you shouldn't have to look at torches peeing, it isn't right.

Yea. OP is just trolling.

Yeah, well, the wiki-esque "sources" are nice and all, but the sun and moon have round reflections in the game actually... only the torches do not.

There seem to be two types of water surface reflections. The first is more common at shorter distances, it resembles a mirror with minor distortions, and lights are more or less reflected like everything else. The second type would happen at longer distances, light spots tend to have the vertical distortion noticed in OP, while everything else isn't really reflected, but their general color just contributes to the hue of the water (which's still a kind of reflection).

So apparently the problem comes from trying to merge these two types of reflection.
