Call of Olympus on Cursed

I have yet to be able to finish Call of Olympus on Cursed Difficulty. By the time I get to the final island the waves are so impossible that even in the best circumstances (with my help and a good mount) they are overwhelming my defenses and I have to keep rebuilding the walls back. Has anyone actually finished this without dying? Is it even possible?

i make it to the last part... and enter the island in the sky...
many times... there where i gave up... (to maken it in one reign)...

I cleared Cursed before the update, but it feels more difficult after the 2.1.0 update. While the weakening of Chimera and other issues seem to be bugs, I believe the difficulty of Cursed has increased.

i have done it 3x now. call of olympus play thru, destroying all portals, single reign, cursed diff, single player, no save-scumming. (except the first time, the endboss killed me so i closed the game in a panic, but don't tell anyone. the next two times were a breeze)

the first playthru was in v2.0, the second and third was in v2.1.

afaict, the principal strategy for CoO is: get medusa shield, become invincible.
....its, like, mega broken.

some advice:

• normal K2C advice (move fast, keep the walls tight, recruit vagrants, hire archers)
  
• scout the first night to see whats up
  
• get the griffin asap (or chimera if they ever fix it. elk is actually the best except in winter, and cerberus is a reasonable alternative, but griffin stamina is great)
  
• get the archer statue asap (and other statues are great too)
  
• dont worry about other powerups or mounts. if you switch to another god power (do you have to? i dont know, i always do it), make sure you switch back to medusa shield at the power-statue-shop.
  
• dont return to any island, EXCEPT if you missed the archer statue because of low gems
  
• do persephone island second (or even first) to get the medusa shield
  
• once you have knights, dont use the boat-party to destroy small portals (there are no snails or slugs in the mini-defense-waves if there is no boat)
  
• if you have the medusa shield, you can kill an entire wave, of any size, in 3 screen widths or less. wait until they are really close, use the power, run back a half-screen-width, and wait. recharge is so fast that you can hit it again. you dont have to worry about crown stealers, breeders, nobody...its ridiculously OP, tbh
  
• when you destroy a small portal, figure out which side the retaliation is on asap. it helps to build teleporters, and to run to the next portal on the same side until you hear the noise, then run back.

i beat the game on day 196, 180, and 138. if you skip destroying all small portals, you can do it MUCH faster.

edit: if you are trying to destroy all portals, i did an experiment. playthru#2 i destroyed all the portals before leaving each island. in playthru#3 i destroyed only one side of each island, and then i returned to each just before going to snake island. the destroy-one-side strategy is MUCH better, because you have the medusa head for the retaliations, and theyre all always on one side. plus, you can deal with each nightly wave even if its day 100 using the medusa shield. this reduced my play time by ~50 days. sometimes i didn't even rebuild the decayed walls..
if you are NOT trying to destroy all small portals, then obviously just destroy the one side and leave. in particular, i dont think you need to destroy ANY small portals on hermes' island, since the builders do not need to get there for you to light the torch, and medusa head can easily defeat the snake-wave.

whats speed things up..
is just go grab the mines,,, early on / even if behind any portals.. (often are)
*they will allways be on the very 2 first.... of the bigger island u arrives on....

just dont get stucked at the portal/s....
/mount out of stamina... and with no coins in satchel... ;D

interesting strategy, maybe ill try this next time:
travel to top-left small island, clear it.
travel to artemis island, unlock stone, immediately leave without destroying any portals.
travel to bottom-right small island, unlock iron, get medusa shield.
then clear just one side of every other island, then clear the second side.
