Game breaking bug - "cursed coins" and boat leaving without me??

I apologise for not having a video clip of this, so I'll do my best to describe it.

I was pleaying Deadlands and was on the final island when I realised I didn't have the balista hermit for some reason (when I accidentally turned my defence tower into a potion shop, oops.)
So I went back to the first island, and when I did that, suddenly I started getting spammed with a ridiculous amount of gems and coins (I wasn't even carrying any gems when I went on the boat???)
and in addition to those, these weird white skull looking things and darker grey skull looking things started raining down on my coin pouch. the light coloured ones were also spewing some kind of particle effect. they were making weird sounds too. (like a gentle thud each).
The coins and gems wouldn't go into my bag, and between the coins falling out and getting re-picked up and all my people just absolutely unloading waves of coins on me from the time I've been away, the screen was just a constant mess of coins falling out of the bag.
These white and grey items kept filling up the bag and falling out and just wouldn't stop for ages. as they fall they don't appear in the actual map, only as an animation around the coin pouch, and would "poof" away when they fell down.
Eventually they stopped coming, but I could not get the existing ones out of the pouch, as they wouldn't be dropped like coins.

And what's worse is when I tried to take the boat back to the last island, (both to run away from the issue and hope it fixes it, and also because I could deliberately get hit to A) see if the weird coins get knocked out of me and B) to see if allowing my character to die and start again would fix it.)
However.... when I paid for the boat.. it starts moving away as it normally does except I'm not on it. it's leaving without me.

So I imagine it'd have just continued to slowly sail on until it disappeared off the map presumably.
But this is where I quit.

the only thing I can even think that might have been a cause of why this is happening, is I experienced a bug where my crown got stolen by a 'leaper', and it succesfully made it into a portal (heartbreakingly), but somehow... somehow the game didn't end? and I just had no crown. and then the next morning I had a crown again.
So could that have somehow caused it?
If someone tells me where the log files are stored on the PC then I can share them.
I did quit the game and reload once to see if the bug fixed itself (it didn't obvs), so I hope you don't only get the most recent session in the log.

I have also done a file verification in steam. it found no issues.

Ah! I started a new game to try Olympus, and I found some glowy spot and paid coins and got something in my pouch that looks a LOT like the white things I mentioned before.

it is indeed Olympus Souls, one of the tons of bugs they implemented with the glorious 2.0 patch/olympus release. they sayed they fixed that bugs named here already, seems they dont (surprise... )

Ah thanks good to know it's a known thing. I had a little look to see if I could find anyone talking about it but I honestly didn't know what to search for. I will now though
I'll keep my eye out for future patches/updates.

there where at least 3 Threads about the Boat leaving alone and at least 2 reports of hailstorms of gems/souls. there where also a few reports of pseudo goldcoins (shining white? ) that really blocked up the purse.
and im sure i read they sayed they fixed it with one of the subpatches after 2.0

I am experiencing the same exact problem on Shogun's 4th island. Was doing split-screen co-op. Leaper got me, then when I tried to grab my crown I got spammed by grey skulls, gems, and white/pale blue coins. Didn't affect the other player. But now I can't grab coins and the boat leaves without us... So frustrating

Actually this just happened to us like a few minutes ago in co-op and none of us had lost our crowns at any point. Gonna be honest we've been trying to play for a few days and we haven't been able to complete any of our playthroughs because we just keep encountering random game breaking bugs and even without doing anything. So yeah, personally, I'm done with this game.

That sucks man, but same here. We're taking a break from KTC for a bit until this bug gets resolved. Big bummer, considering we were enjoying our playthrough
