Norse Lands Knight Attack command

Just real quick. Started playing the Norse Lands and I love it. Yet I am confused, its not like the other lands where you stand at the edge of your empire and pay four coins for you knights to attack portals.

Am I missing something or is the ability unlocked on the later islands?

you have to upgrade to the stone age (lumber in norse lands)

I can't get my guys to attack, too. I got the first upgrade, recruited 2 Norse-squires, and built an external wall in that direction.

Not entirely sire on this one, but I think you need to buy shields first for 4 or so of your archers will attach to the crusading unit.
