🎮How to start playing Kingdom Two Crowns (from the Game Director Angelica!) 🎮
Hello Monarch!
Is that a shiny new crown I spot on top of your head? Let me be your royal advisor for a moment and send you off on your majestic adventures with a few tips and tricks!

Step 1. Build
When you start the game, building is one of the most important aspects. Start by setting up a camp – the friendly ghost will guide you through the first basic steps. After that, your first goal should be ensuring your camp is safe. You wouldn’t want your newly built kingdom to be robbed just like that, would you? Walls on both sides and a couple of archers should do the trick, at least for the first few nights! After that, we need to get the economy rolling. A steady income will help you stand strong against the ever-increasing threat from the Greed. Luckily, there are many ways to earn coins! Archers will hunt small critters and deer, and you should also be on the lookout for treasure chests, once you venture outside your kingdom, or a pale hooded figure with a donkey – the Merchant. All of these are great ways to kickstart your economy.

Expansion is another very important part of building up a powerful kingdom. Send your builders out to cut down nearby trees. That will not only make space for walls and new buildings, but will sometimes also generate a few extra coins. But be careful when imposing on nature. Forest inhabitants such as deer and the odd vagrant camps do not appreciate their homes getting ruined.

Pro tip:
Early on, every coin counts! So, the more seasoned players will sometimes ignore the advice above about building walls early and instead rely solely on archers - because once you upgrade the camp to a certain level, the closest walls will be built for free! But is it a risk you're willing to take just to save a few coins?

Step 2. Explore
As briefly mentioned in the previous step - yes, you must brave the unknown land outside of your kingdom! Benefit from the exciting spirit of exploration by roaming around dark untouched forests and see what you discover. A stranded steed that you might tame and take as your own? A distressed barking companion? Or perhaps… a large pink and gooey gate welcoming sinister creatures from the unknown? Summon your courage and find out!

Pro tip:
Keep an eye on the sun! As night approaches, you should be ready to head back to the safety of your camp. The further away from home you are, the bigger is the risk of running into an unexpected threat. It's far too easy to lose track of time in the deep, dark woods...

Step 3. Defend
Every night mysterious otherworldly creatures known as the Greed will attack your home from both sides. Why? Because they want your crown. The moment they get their hands (or the oddly shaped limbs they have for those…) on your precious headpiece the game will be over. No crown, no Monarch. So, build up your defenses! Archers will come in handy once more. Make sure you have enough of them to defend your kingdom. As you progress through the game, you’ll also be able to hire pikemen, fortify your walls further, build towers and a lot more. But beware of the Greed, they will grow both in strength and in numbers, and challenge your defenses time and time again.

Pro tip:
The approaching Greed is indeed after your crown, but similar objects of golden sheen can act as a distraction! A few well-placed coins dropped on the ground outside your Kingdom can sometimes help thin the hordes just enough for your defenses to last through the night. Call it a small bribe, if you may. Anything to keep the crown safe, right?

Step 4. Conquer
Once you have explored and expanded on the current island, it might be time to broaden your horizons. In Call of Olympus you will be able to completely eradicate the Greed from the first island immediately, but in the other campaigns you will not have access to the necessary means until later. First, you must construct a boat! Locate the shipwreck and invest some coins (actually... a lot of coins!) and watch your workers hammer away to turn it into a beautiful ship. Before you set sail, make sure to ring the wharf bell to call a small group of citizens to join you, it will make setting up your new base so much easier! Now it is up to you to conquer and explore other lands to build a strong and prosperous kingdom! Somewhere beyond the horizon lies the answer to a thousand-year-old question. Can the Greed truly be defeated?

Pro tip:
As a Monarch driven by the lust of exploration, it might be tempting to start building the boat immediately, but it is a good idea to establish a flourishing camp on the current island before sailing away. Not only to make sure that you leave with your pouch full of coins, but it is also likely that you will return later on. And then you might be glad that you built those steadfast defenses that kept your Kingdom safe - even in your royal absence.

That's the basics, mixed up with a few more advanced tricks. Enjoy your conquest, dear Monarch, happy exploration and I’m looking forward to seeing your prosperous Kingdom out there! 😄

Thank you for the starter guide! I've introduced K2C to several people, and they all report it's pretty bewildering at first. This will help!

Step 4. Uninstall the game because the greedy devs decided to release it without play testing it and now offer us a solution to upload save files instead of refunds...
