Getting Hermits back in Call of Olympus?

I'm aware of how to get my dog back if it's kidnapped, as well as how to get back gems. The gem merchant from the dockyard can also appear in a separate location where those can be bought back with gold. This doesn't seem to apply to Hermits, though. I had my flamer tower Hermit kidnapped, and he's not showing up in the merchant's inventory.

OK, so that's how the mechanic is supposed to work? I'll have another look, then.

I personally haven't lost anything in order to need to buy it back from him, but that's what I keep hearing is meant to happen.

OK, my mistake. After combing my kingdom, I did find the flame tower hermit hiding with the farmers. I saw him get grabbed for sure, but I guess the Greed didn't manage to actually carry him off. Maybe the kidnapper took a catapult shot or some such. So PEBKAC. Please disregard.

Huh. Hermits normally gather in their own little area where no farmers tend to have crops growing. Oh, unless there were a whole bunch of unemployed farmers around the very centre of town? Fair enough, I lose a lot of my hermits there in the early days on a new island, or if I've brought a bunch over to Athena's big island or just as winter hits.

Mine gather two walls away from the castle in both directions (depending on where I last used them), and I just so happened to have a farm very close to the castle on that side. Point being - I thought he was taken when he wasn't. My bad :)

The Gem Merchant will appear at a separate location. You can buy anything that got taken away from him for coins.
