Yeah, you desperately need to read some guides or watch some tutorial videos. It also sounds like your reign has been going for a long time if regular waves are pulverizing you. Just take the loss. You'll respawn as a new monarch with most of your progress kept and the nightly waves will be reset back to day 1 difficulty.
^ This 100%. As soon as I realized there is almost no penalty for dying and allowing a new monarch to take over, things got a whole lot less stressful. There is an achievement for finishing the campaign with only one monarch, but otherwise there is no reason to force yourself to do that. With experience (and maybe looking up advice in guides, as others suggested), you will find a methodology that will make it easier to complete the campaign more quickly before the greed gets too overwhelming.
clearing trees so grass spreads will let lots of little animals spawn for archers to get money from, having atleast 1 farm will also greatly help with getting money once you're able to hire farmers
edit: for some reason i assumed you were simply new to the game, but as others said, you really aren't required to beat everything in a single reign.
what we like to do is clear the docks portal first so we can build the lighthouse ASAP, moving on as soon as we can, then only after having lighthouses on all the islands (and unlocking all we can) we try clearing the rest of the portals.
if we die then we can just speedrun everything because we already have everything unlocked, the banks have gold stored, etc.
what you most need to be wary of in the later days are the revenge waves that appear after destroying portals. they can surprise you quite badly. I don't recommend doing what i did, waiting until day >150 before finally moving to the final island, destroying a portal on day 2 or something and then almost dying to a massive horde lmao.
You don't want to linger on islands for too long early on.
