but in all seriousness, I'll pass along the request to the team, thanks!
No need for new buttons. Simply an Options toggle would suffice.
there are other considerations than ease-of-programming and ui, though. afaict, the primary design goal for the user experience of kingdom is one of absolute minimalism. configs, and even the ghosts themselves, add a layer of complexity between the game and the player.
look how many years of whining it took for them to just add difficulties :D
anyway, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add an option to turn off the ghost!
and the dog barking (noisy/quiet/animation-only)!
and add input configs!
and make fullscreen disabled by default, or at least persist it so that the game remembers disabling it!
i promise it wont make the game feel less mysterious or ruin any joy of discovery. it will just take needles out of the eyes of people who have already experienced the sacred mysteries.
turning the ghost off is comparatively a very simple fix. adding the UI elements to the option screen, persisting it in the global save file, and then actually applying it, which might literally be a one-liner.
sorry, what i originally said in my comment ("as a game dev") was a bit misleading. i am not a professional game dev, im a professional programmer who has worked on a few amateur games and open source games, and done some porting and modding. (edited the original comment to say "someone who has written code for games")
btw at the start of the game there is that 'hold down to skip tutorial' doesn't that disable all ghosts? or just the early most handholding ones?
and on that note, instead of "hold down" mine said "triple tap a" as if i had a controller. bug? it threw me off so i actually did not skip it :(
Unfortunately that disables only the initial tutorial. Another option would that: skipping the initial AND the extended tutorial all together. There are so many good ways to do that, and absolutely no reason for devs not giving us this option.
Triple tap is the action for mobile devices. Are you playing on Windows 8.1?
