This is one of the only games that gives me a headache due to the stutters
Over the course of this game's updates and expansions (Dead Lands, Norselands, etc) I've always just put up with the stutters because, although they're hard on the eyes, you do eventually get used to them.

Every time I come back to this game when some new content releases though I'm immediately reminded of them and more recently it's been inducing some really horrible headaches due to the constant nature of them. I even installed this game on a entirely different machine to see if it is something local to me, as there seems to be barely any mention of stutters on the steam forums apart from myself over the years, and I still get the stutters no matter what machine I install it on.

Bottom line is the movement on the 2D plane is not smooth and jumps a lot, it's not large stutters or inconsistent stutters, it's just the general movement of the camera has never been smooth.

Does anyone else get this? How do people tolerate it if they do? Is there any fix?

EDIT: Comparison footage of random Kingdom Two Crowns @60fps against 3 randomly selected 2D scrolling games with smooth scrolling @60fps, so people know what I'm talking about.

I'd be really interested to know if anyone else is experiencing this. Even seeing a video of what you see would be super helpful.

Everyone experiences this. It's been like this since classic kingdom

Installed the game on a completely new laptop to play on a 4K TV while I was away from home about a year ago. Still had the unsmooth motion and immediately reminded myself why I stopped playing and just turned the game off.

never had this, or noticed it, but i have not played single, maybe its tied to that, (i got 85hours clocked so far)

I play in single player mode and have 125 hours in the game and I have never experienced this.

Me neither, I have actually played the game in my PS4 with a 4K TV, also using the screen of my Nintendo Switch and now I'm replaying it in my computer (using a monitor, obviously) and I haven't noticed something like that.

I find this a little bit strange since sometimes I am sensitive to same games which indeed give me headaches, but this is not one of them.

Okay so it's very likely that the people responding saying they don't experience this don't even know what I'm talking about. First of all I'm playing on a 144hz monitor which means not only am I used to smoother transitions, but it's easier to detect.

Just to validate there weren't any changes to the game since I last played and I wasn't going crazy, I did open up the game again and yes, it's still the same problem.

So the slight stutters might be hard to detect, but the general scrolling/motion of the screen is so poor it should also come up on 60hz monitors as well. To try and detect this I looked up some gameplay of Kingdom Two Crowns and, yes, even in Youtube videos you can clearly see that it's not a smooth transition:

https://youtu.be/aOgVB3jIuuI?t=45
https://youtu.be/bte_AfcuSAM?t=1071
https://youtu.be/RJBL2tDaRp8?t=781

If you can't see what I'm talking about then you're just used to it and are okay with it. And that's fine, but for me personally the jagged movement of the camera hurts my eyes.

Now, for comparison, I'm going to pick some random 2D games that also scrolls the screen that has a much smoother camera transition:

https://youtu.be/YdvVyvGxRT8?t=449
https://youtu.be/U5FAElbaFY0?t=152
https://youtu.be/OEcBTND0r7M?t=230

I hope this comparison highlights the difference between smooth transition and non-smooth. Again, you might be okay with it, but it really strains my eyes and I've never experienced this before.

It was the first thing i noticed about the game when I started playing and cam here specifically to see if anyone else experienced it. It doesn't give me headaches, but i can see how it would.

Even when the fps counter is displaying a solid 60(i have noticed it dip here and there), there is still a LOT of stutter. It wouldn't surprise me if some people simply don't see it, or it doesn't bother them, but it is blatantly obvious to me here.

I have a few other machines try this on with varying hardware and displays, so if i get around to it i'll comment again with my findings. As I'd really like to see it fixed.

always been smooth here

Having tried this across three different computers with very different setups and displays etc, it just seems as if scrolling is not as smooth as it should be. It's not drops in frames and doesn't seem to be frame pacing issues, as you would see that while standing still too.

It's just choppy scrolling. Not a deal breaker for most and probably not visible to those less observant of or susceptible to these things. But it really doesn't look good.

Could you look at the videos I linked above your post and tell me if you see a difference between the first 3 and the final 3? There's a few people saying they can't see anything, but seemingly any YouTube video, stream, or just recording of gameplay clearly shows the difference between smooth scrolling and not screen scrolling, even capped at 60fps via a compressed YouTube video.

I've been having stutters ever since the difficulty settings update. The game runs fine, but will occasionally hitch like my hard drive is getting hammered. I suspect there's some kind of autosave function running in the background which doesn't play well with HDDs.

I don't think you're talking about the same thing as the above posters are.

I guess I don't understand what that means, then.
nope, can honestly say this doesn't affect me. And I get migraines now and then.
