How do you rescue a hermit?
One of my hermits got kidnapped so I went and destroyed the cave portal like I thought I was supposed to but they're still gone. Can somebody give me a detailed explanation of how I'm supposed to rescue hermits?

When you upgrade your Castle to Iron, a new building appears near the Castle.
That allows you to buy a Bomb, which then gets escorted by Builders and Knights to the cave portal.
When you are in, you have to fight your way deeper into the cave and when you are far enough in, you can detonate the Bomb.
Which after a few seconds will colapse and destroy the portal.

If you make it out alive, all the stolen Hermits, Gems and Dog will be outside too.

Ah okay, is this still possible to do once you've destroyed the portal?

I'm guessing you just hired Knights to take down the portal.
In this case the portal will stay broken for i think 3 days and then will be active again.

I didn't test it but I think the portal needs to be active in order for you to enter with the Bomb.

Oh interesting, so I'm guessing using the bomb will permanently destroy the portal?

You can go inside even with a destroyed portal, I've tested it, provided that you built the bomb.

Without spoilers, some tips.

USE THE GRYPHON MOUNT!!! Also, keep a wallet of coins on your way in. You'll need coins to build the bomb at home, pay your knights if they lose coins, and ignite the bomb once inside.

Once you light the fuse, just haul ass out of the cave.

If you run out of stamina in the cave, it will mean death. The Gryphon can eat from anywhere, even the greed cave, letting you fully graze and saving you precious moments to survive racing back out of the cave. Even with speed boost from the Great Stag, I couldn't escape before he got exhausted. Gryphon is the only mount I've escaped with consistently.

I think you can escape with any mount.
Even with a mount that is slow and has low stamina, I managed to run out of the cave.
