What counts as beating an island?

I've played through the first two islands and all I had to do is build the boat and it let me move on to the next island. Do you even have to destroy portals?

I've been on the fourth island, and there's been no indication how to complete an island. In fact we went to the fifth before we died, and still have none completed.

There is an offical way to beat an island. To do so you first have to go to the fourth island to unlock the iron material which allows iron upgrades for towers, walls and your castle.

Once you have got that if you expand your walls sufficent enough to the cliff portal side a forge will spawn inside your walls. This is used to create a bomb to destroy the greed forever on that island (though its hard than you think). Keep in mind that the forge will only spawn behind iron walls and you should destroy all the little portals before making the bomb.

You will then be able to go back to the previous islands and do the same for them

In my experience, the forge does not necessarily spawn on the cliff side.

Oh it always spawned on the cliff side for me but i guess it doesnt make much of a difference

Yeah it spawns on either side and it does not make a difference
