boat wont move - first island
first time playing two crowns and how do you get the boat to move now? I have builders and archers on it and it started to move the wrong way then stopped. I don't have knights and there's no stone on this island. Is this a bug?

I am currently in the same situation. Also, there are multiple objects that need gems, however we didnt find a single gem on the whole island (every treen is chopped, every palisade errected), nothing has been missed.
This is highly demotivating. I wanted to introduce my wife to this game, and on the first island its just broken. Very dissappointed...

Bear in mind that this game allows you to come back to previous islands. You can do it once you've found gems and stone elsewhere. Neither of those things can be found on the first island.

For the boat, have you paid 8 coins to get on once it's in the water?

The boat was constructed, moved a short distance, archers and builders got in and now it is just sitting there. There is no means of interaction at or near the boat.
I have played and completed the previous kongdom games, so i think i know how the boat usually works,

I don't know what could be going wrong, then. The usual sequence is

-> Build boat from parts
-> Pay 2 coins to launch boat
-> 2 Builders start pulling it towards the departure site while up to 3 builders and 4 archers get on
-> Once it reachers its destination, pay 8 coins to get on; any hermits get on
-> Set sail and wait for the map to come up

How does your experience differ?

Did you play the previous games ? If yes you may expect the boat to move to the shore, but it is no longer the case. It will stop at the sign. You can then pay to embark

Check, though you only have to pay 10 coins and get all parts, unlike New Lands where you have to buy a lot more parts after the initial buy

Not sure, what is the destination? The dock on the edge of the map i blocked by a portal (which cant be destoyed without knights)

If it is already at the destination (i.e. boat does not need to go the side dock on island one) then there are no indicators for coins whcih could be spent.

Searching the forums i have come across others having the same problem. In one thread it was said both monarchs must be at the (almost exact) same spot and then the coins may be spent. I will check in the next couple of days if thats really the case, when ever i can convince my wife to try again...
If that is indeed the problem i think it must be made really clear by the game or monarch should be able to pay independently from each other the price for getting on the boat

I can't speak to the co-op experience (unlike yours, my partner refuses to try it), but you could try doing it separately in single player so you can see what it's supposed to look like.

Assuming you've got the boat in the water, builders and archers will come along and board. The builders will also pull the boat a short distance to a pier. It's hard to see, sort of, but the dirt becomes wooden planks for a short distance next to the wreck. The boat will get moved to that location. Once it's there, you can go back to your wall and send squires/knights to board also. Archers will automatically head in, as long as enough of them are free. I recommend loading the boat fully if you can.
Once all that is done, go to the boat, and pay... 10? 12? coins to launch the ship. Your monarch will jump on, and hermits will come along and jump in too at this point, I believe.
If you've done all this (you can skip the squires/knights but they're free extra units) and the boat still isn't moving... I have no idea.

Boats are expensive to repair and launch. Just rub your Monarch against it and stuff coins into it until it complies, basically.

In coop you should both be standing under the crows nest, otherwise you can have them quit out then rejoin once you move islands

Yes this is incredibly unintuitive and not obvious if you are in co op the coins dont show up till you are both there

i'll try your suggestions and report back. I like the minimal style of the game, but there really should be more guidance. I had to search on google to figure out how to play split screen and then again to figure out why we were both controlling the same player.... sigh
jayfreck Dec 16, 2018 @ 6:50am
just checked it - yes both players must stand at the ship mast for you to be able to pay the coins to get the boat moving.

The boat moves to the dock right besides the construction site, paying to get on the boat will call all hermits on to the boat. It doesn't go to the far corner because, there is now a portal on the dock. Destroy the dock portal, then you can build a light house witch will give you a lower chance of crashing the boat when you return, so you don't have to rebuild it. You're supposed to return to every island at least once in the game so build a light house on every island should do the trick.

I'm having the same issue. In online coop I, the host, build the boat, get it in the water, get my troops on board and initiate the launch with my buddy right next to me standing by the mast. The end of level screen appears and we set sail just fine for my friend but on my screen the boat just sits there and nothing happens. I have to alt+f4 out, reload in and so far it always works the second time. Is this a bug if the ship doesn't set sail after paying 10 coins, or do the hermits take forever to show up?
