The winter ends after about 14 days.
I cleared a lot of forest and that didn't help. The next rabits I found are extremely far out, approximately 5 walls I would have to built until there for which I don't have any money.
I can't even cut trees right now because I'm at 0 coins.
Then the deer it is. Either that or a total reset. Seven gems is a lot.
Few tips:
Winter happens Day 49 roughly. That's overall, not just per island. Hit escape and check top right to see what day it is.
Get the banker if winter is coming and start pouring coins into him. It might not seem important now, but that small amount of interest can make the difference midway through winter.
Spearman upgrade is I believe the one after the knight upgrade. Its imperative that you get that upgrade ASAP.
If day 49 is approaching, just stay on your current island and alt tab. Its boring as hell (hopefully they tweak this) but it wont be auto game over.
Cheers.
I was rich af on the previous island but could only expand a single wall outward on this one before being stuck.
64 ingame days without a single coin and still far off from being overrun.
1. Rabbits spawn from rabbit thickets. They're these bushy looking things in fields of grass.
2. Rabbit thickets spawn in fields of grass.
3. If there is no field of grass? There is no rabbit thicket.
4. If the field of grass is too small? There is no rabbit thicket.
Two major exceptions:
1. Winter kills all grass. No grass? No rabbit thicket. (Don't worry, it'll come back in Spring.)
2. Rabbit thickets are only allowed to spawn outside of your kingdom. See those background walls that appear every time you build a defensive wall? That's your kingdom. Your territory. Rabbit thickets will not spawn anywhere in your territory.
Even if you had a field of grass that was spawning rabbit thickets and rabbits like nobodys business for days, the second you expand past it? It will immediately despawn all those rabbit thickets. (rabbits will stay until hunted.)
Here's how to manipulate grass:
1. Grass wants to expand as much as possible.
2. Grass is blocked by everything. If a tree is in the way? It will stop spawning right at the forest's edge. You cut that tree down? The grass will grow up to the next tree. So on and so forth.
3. Grass is blocked by everything. You build a wall? Unless the greed knock that wall down and it stays down for awhile the grass will stop dead in it's tracks. If you ever want a gigantic grassy field spawning rabbit thickets and rabbits make sure the grass overtakes a mound you want to turn into a wall by quite a bit before turning it into said wall.
... Which I started by now. I just reset the last one as I couldn't do anything. I don't use the griffon anymore but the deer mount instead, so that I can bring back deer for hunting. I've cleared two dock portals already and am now headed towards the metal upgrade to destroy the cliff portals.
