Yep.
Island 1, leave ASAP for island 2. I dont even invest in a banker. On Island 2, grab all gems and again, rush for island 3. On island 2 I only unlock the farm statue in case I get lucky with farm placements later in the game. I dont think the elk or stable hermit are worth buying. I used to get the Elk exclusively but its super important you have 10 gems once you leave island 3, which is only possible if you get every gem and buy the farm statue (on island 2), the baker hermit and building statue (both on island 3). After island 3 I return to Island 1 just because its SO important to get the gryphon and archer statue upgrade. The ballista hermit is also really nice for taking down big greed. After I go back to 1, I try to beef up its defenses a little (for when I return later), and rush for Island 4.
Currently I am on island 4 at day ~42 which gives me about a week to prepare for winter.
Good luck all.
