Can’t beat the game
I’m currently at the third island, the first two are completely done (even the bomb portal) and whenever I destroy any portal on this island I get swarmed with such a massive horde (3+ armored Breeders, 5 Floaters and few crown stealers) that I simply cannot fend them off. I have about 5 fully upgraded towers behind stone walls at every possible location with knights (upgraded through the smith) plus few ballistas scattered around AND I’m using the character that buffs your soldiers for a short period of time.

And the greed just wipes them out. Completely. Without loosing more than half their forces.

I feel like I HAVE TO be doing something wrong, since I’m only halfway through the game and it’s already unbeatable.

Oh, and my game got bugged and I’m stuck in an endless night, which is frustrating AF, I’m really close to just quitting because it’s getting on my nerves.

What is your game-day counter? It may be that you have 'only' been taking too long. The waves become harder the longer you play.

You do not need to kill the first island right at the beginning - you are free to just invest enough time to build the boat, advance to the next island, get whatever upgrade you want (or not), advance to the third, return to the first to kill the portal, then advance to the fourth island.
Experiment - finding out what the islands hold in store for you, finding out about the different statues and horses is part of the joy of this game.

Or it may 'simply' be that you need more archers. Dividing your monarchs time between heading into the woods to recruit more vagrants and building up your kingdom is also one of the decisions you continually have to take.

If this does not answer your questions, describe your situation in a bit more detail, I may be able to help more then.

Best of luck!

Building towers everywhere is a huge waste or archers, every archer you leave behind on a tower is an archer that won't be firing at the wave when it reaches your walls.

The waves shouldn't be able to break through your first wall, if it does, you need more archers and/or upgrades. Oh and make sure you're using iron walls and catapults. Also, not sure what mount you're using but some can make a real difference (the lizard could solo waves before Dead Lands, not sure how it is now).

And yeah the endless night bug makes playing the game really, really annoying.

That's the thing, i have ♥♥♥♥ ton of archers, for example right now the usual horde attacked on a wall that had about 20 archers behind it, but the second those 4 breeders came to my iron wall, it was instantly destroyed and then all my archers died from one blow of the breeder.

Do you buy explosive barrels before breaking a portal? These should make a difference.

Based on your description, I think TanSerrai is right: you probably took too long to get to this point. The Greed waves get exponentially harder the longer you let the game go on without beating it, to a point where it becomes literally impossible to beat with one ruler (no matter how much you build up). You can fix this though, by resigning to the fact that this leader has failed and letting it die. You will start over with a new leader, but everything you built from before will remain in-tact. The difficulty will reset and it will be easier to continue. If you want to do it with only one ruler, you have to rush through the game as fast as you can before the Greed attacks get too over-powering.
Step 1 buy a catapault

Step 2 stock a ton of fire barrels...

Fire barrels destroy breeders, they get lit on fire and burn for massive damage, and your archers should be able to finish them.

Secondly do you have 4+ pikemen defending your wall? If you dont youre doing it wrong.

Thirdly - The gryphon found on the first isle is probably the best mount in game. The wing flap/stun can buy you so much time during horde attacks to whittle down the small blobs of greed.

Also - If you havent gotten/activated the builder/hammer statue it doubles the hit points of all your walls. Giant breeders take quite a while to pound thru blessed walls, all the while your fire catapaults are raining death on them.

recruitment is key, if you spend every day recruiting at least 3-4 archers a day you'll never actually be overwhelmed on an island, your exponential gain will be greater than the greed's.

your job is then to balance it out so you can afford to get a steady stream of archers and still advance your kingdom

this job becomes a lot easier too if you get yourself the baker hermit as the vagrants will all come to you

i experienced crown stealers and even armoured breeders in a blood moon on day 43. i believe this is just a lot of bugs with the new DLC. I also had the eternal night problem but it fixed itself when i countered a blood moon:kgreed:
