"These four new playable characters all come directly from the gothic horror action-RPG Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and include Shardbinder Miriam and three unlockable characters—demon hunter Zangetsu, summoner Gebel and alchemist Alfred"
Its basically a character tie in, but doesn't seem to have anything to do with the actual Bloodstained franchise other than that. As if the art style wasn't proof enough of that.
Basically if I make a public game with Mario as one of the main characters, use Nintendo's fonts and whatnot, I'm probably going to be taken to super, mega, sue-you-into-bankruptcy court. Why is that not happening here?
Probably because they got permission from the original creators and this is a collaborative project. There are lots of other instances of studios cooperating to have cross-overs.
So that happened, or that "probably" happened? Also, when these crossovers do occur, it's usually to some degree of fanfare and publicizing. Bloodstained is a relatively popular game. If this was a planned colab, I would think it would have gotten press somewhere? Maybe I just missed it.
I don't think the devs are stupid enough to commit copywrite infringement. It's not like this is some random app in the Google Play store by some no-name. But go ahead and report it if you're concerned.
