Shadow, Ghost and Duke (Dogs)

I just picked up Two Crowns and am enjoying. I have a question about dogs. In New Lands there were three dogs -- I called them Shadow (black dog), Ghost (white dog) and Duke (brown poop coloured dog). In New Lands I came across Shadow on Island 2. I don't like Shadow very much because he blends with the background and I can't spot him a lot of the time. I'd hear him barking but couldn't find him to see which way he was facing. Am I stuck with Shadow? Any chance I can kill him off somehow and get Ghost?

You just might be. In New Lands you could go to a new island and hope for a different spawn, but here in Two Crowns there is only one spawn.

I've also never had the dog stolen or my crown stolen after getting the dog to see if that causes the game to generate a new dog or if it's just assumed the greed stole the old dog that you'd then rescue with the heir.

Okay I figured out how to get Ghost. If you lose your dog to the greed it seems to come back a different colour. So I got Shadow and lost him to the greed and he came back as Ghost! I can actually see him against the background now!

(Note in case it matters -- I lost my dog, went to a different island, then came back and got her.)

Okay, never mind. She was ghost for the rest of that Island but now I've gone to a new island and she's shadow again.
